Ghiulbenghian Runs Into Kings

Level 15 : Blinds 1,500/3,500, 3,500 ante

Three-way on a flop of 8Q6, Moulay Driss Toujri on the button bet 7,000, Edmond Ghiulbenghian in the big blind three-bet all-in for 65,500, then Alexandre Maurel in the cutoff jammed for approximately 170,000.

Facing these two all-ins, Toujri went into the tank for almost 5 minutes. The clock was called and Toujri ultimately chose to fold what he said was ace-queen.

Edmond Ghiulbenghian: 97 All in
Alexandre Maurel: KK

Maurel had an over-pair, but Ghiulbenghian was still hoping for a flush or a straight. However the 8J runout didn't bring what he wanted and he was eliminated.

For the first time in the 11 editions of the Sismix Main Event, a single flight has attracted more than 1,000 entries today. After an impressive 677 entries on Day 1a, today’s Day 1b saw a record-breaking 1,079 entrants, bringing the total so far to 1,756.

That’s nearly 1,000 entries short of last year’s final tally, but with Day 1c and 1d still to come tomorrow, a new attendance record is well within reach.

Out of the 1,079 entrants on Day 1b, only 179 players will reach the end of day by finding a spot in the money.

Labitte Rivers Straight to Double Up

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Nil Esteve open-raised to 8,000 from the cutoff, the button called, then Pierre Labitte moved all in from the small blind. Esteve isolated with a shove of his own and the button folded. Two players flipped their cards, with Labitte at risk.

Pierre Labitte: KQ All in
Nil Esteve: A10

The flop came J97 and Esteve was still ahead. He improved to a pair of aces on the A turn. The 10 river, however, was a cruel card for Esteve, giving him two pair but also completing Labitte's straight.

Simultaneously, Labitte fist pumped the air in excitement and Esteve slammed his fist in anger. Labitte made a friendly gesture to his opponent, but Esteve shrugged and looked even more annoyed as Labitte dragged in the pot for a double up.
