Bertasius Makes the Hero Call of the Night
Level 8
: Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
The cutoff opened to 2,000 and Titas Bertasius was the lone caller from the big blind.
The dealer spread 2♠4♣K♥ and the initial raiser fired a sizable continuation bet. On the 6♠ turn, the cutoff applied more pressure with an overbet, and Bertasius stuck around once again.
The 7♦ river saw a shift in momentum as Bertasius led out for 20,000. His opponent responded with a raise to 60,000, putting the Lithuanian at risk. After a long stint in the tank, Bertasius pushed his chips forward to make the call.
The cutoff immediately let out a frustrated sigh as he tabled Q♠J♠ for a missed flush draw. Bertasius turned over 5♣5♥, earning a chorus of murmurs from the table along with praise for pulling off a massive hero call.
