Day 1b of River Poker Series Main Event Begins

River Poker Series Main Event
River Poker Series Main Event

Welcome back to our coverage of the River Poker Series Main Event at the palatial WinStar World Casino and Resort! The event began on Friday, where 366 entries were racked up with players each searching for their part of the $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool. At the end of the day it was Matthew Lapossie who led the tournament field, bagging up 658,000 in chips.

Just 37 players advanced from the Day 1a flight, as this tournament opts to play down to the top 10% of the field for each starting day. This means that every player to make Day 2 will be guaranteed a payday, though the amount will be undetermined until registration officially closes on Day 1c.

While Lapossie bagged up the largest stack of the day, others were hot on his heels. Austin Lewis, recent CPPT Choctaw Main Event winner, is close behind with 652,000. Also bagging up a top 5 chip stack was 2010 November Niner Joseph Cheong with 511,000.

Other players who advanced from Day 1a include Lynn Samples (401,500), Scott Clements (386,000), Pete Kaemmerlen (327,000), Jonathan Gaviao (310,000), 2012 River Poker Series Main Event runner-up Andy Robinson (204,500), Arthur Morris (126,500), Rep Porter (122,000), and Christian Harder (62,000).

Play for Day 1b kicks off at 12 p.m. local time, where hopefuls will once again take to the felt with the hopes of cashing in this spectacular event. As always, be sure to keep your browsers locked to PokerNews for all of the latest updates.
