Hardcastle Doubles Through Kogel

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We arrived at the table to find Lonnie Hardcastle and Nate Kogel looking down at a completed board of {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{A-Spades}. With over 90,000 already in the middle, Hardcastle checked the river and Kogel moved all in. This was a bet for Hardcastle's tournament life of 60,500.

Hardcastle went deep into the tank pondering his decision. After just over a minute, Hardcastle moved his remaining chips past the betting line. Kogel tabled {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} for aces and treys and was ultimately bested by Hardcastle's {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for aces and tens. Hardcastle secured the double and now has about 210,000 in chips.

Posey Moving On Up

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Kevin Posey
Kevin Posey

With approximately 90,000 already in the pot, Kevin Posey was facing an all in bet of 58,500 from his opponent on a board of {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. After contemplating his decision for a bit, he put out the call. His opponent had {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and would need to hit a heart as Posey held {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

"No heart," pleaded Posey as the dealer started to put out the river.

It was the {2-Clubs} prompting an enthusiastic clap from Posey. That knock out moved his stack to 445,000 which appears to be the chip lead in the room currently with 75 players remaining.

Campanello Flirts with 400K

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We picked up with the action to see La Sengphet and Bryan Campanello heads up on a {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} board. Sengphet checked the turn, Campanello bet an unknown amount, and Sengphet called to see the river.

The dealer produced the {J-Hearts} on fifth street and Sengphet checked once more. Campanello cut out a bet of 87,500 and Sengphet instantly reached for calling chips. The World Series of Poker bracelet winner rolled over {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} for jacks full of fours to take down the pot. This sizable pot brought his stack up to about 385,000. Sengphet, on the other hand, fell to about 128,000.

Morgan Runs Into Aces

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A short-stacked Jordan Morgan put the last of his chips in with {9-}{7-} and had the misfortune of running into {A-}{A-}. After the board did not help him, Morgan cracked a smile and said "I run so bad." The Oklahoma native will return tomorrow to give it one more shot.

Kogel Busts One

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We arrived at the table in time to see a player already all in against Nate Kogel and a third player. The flop read {2-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Kogel was facing a bet of 16,500 into a side pot. Kogel replied by shipping all in over the top, prompting a fold from his last active opponent. With that, the hands were turned over for the main pot.

Kogel: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Kogel was in a dominating position with his set of deuces. He secured the elimination after the board finished with the {4-Spades} on the turn and the {3-Spades} on the river. This victory brought his stack up to 180,000 in chips.
