Heavy-Hitting Hutter

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Barry Hutter
Barry Hutter

In what could turn out to be the hand of the tournament, Barry Hutter and Steve Buckner just clashed in a big way that resulted in Hutter vaulting up to 700,000 in chips.

When we saw Buckner hop out of his chair and yell for his hand to hold, we knew something big was going down, as he was one of the larger stacks in the room. When we arrived on the scene, it was bigger than we ever could have imagined, as Buckner was involved with Hutter on the {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop for all of his chips. The pot was well over 600,000 in chips, and it was Hutter's {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} up against Buckner's {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The turn was a black {4-}, but the {Q-Diamonds} on the river landed Hutter with a winning pair of queens and he won the massive pot. Hunter had Buckner covered, sending Buckner to the rail and shooting Hutter way up the leaderboard.

Shadows of Mordue

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
James Mordue
James Mordue

According to James Mordue, Upeshka De Silva made it 9,000 preflop, and Mordue called. The next player to act reraised to 40,000, De Silva folded, and Mordue called.

The flop was {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and Mordue tanked for a minute before he shoved all in. His opponent, who only had 70,000 left, sighed and called. Mordue had the {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and his opponent had the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. The turn was the {a-Spades}, giving his opponent a flush draw, but the river was an off-suit {2-} and Mordue won the hand with a pair of aces and his king kicker.

Straight Outta Chips

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Upehska De Silva raised to 9,500 and the player to his left reraised to 20,000. De Silva asked how much his opponent had behind and called.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and both players checked. The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, and De Silva bet 27,500. His opponent called.

The river was the {3-Hearts}, and shortly after the river hit, De Silva shoved all in. His opponent didn't take very long at all to call. De Silva showed the {4-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a flopped straight and his opponent showed the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

De Silva, who had 400,000 before the hand, had his opponent well covered and added the 100,000 to his stack.

"When does this table break?" asked a player at the table in reference to wanting to get away from De Silva.

Buckner Flops a Straight

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

From middle position, Calaeb Roland raised to 9,500. Barry Hutter called out of the small blind, and Steve Buckner called out of the big blind.

The {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop was checked by all three players to see the {A-Diamonds} land on the turn. After Hunter checked, Buckner bet 12,000. Roland called, and Hutter folded.

The river was the {J-Spades}, and Buckner bet 21,000. Roland made the call, but couldn't beat the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} that Buckner turned up for a flopped straight.
