Rex Clinkscales Doubles Through Robert Wolf

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Rex Clinkscales and Robert Wolf were two of four players who saw the {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop for 2,700. There was a bet and two calls on the flop, with Clinkscales and Wolf both calling an early position bet.

The turn was the {a-Spades} and the flop bettor checked to Wolf who bet 7,000. Clinkscales went all in for 10,900 and Wolf called with {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

Clinkscales had {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and stayed ahead when the river was the {8-Clubs}.

Tolbert Eliminated on Runner-Runner

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Tolbert had him dominated with {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} but the board ran out {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, giving Tolbert's opponent a queen-high straight.

Bronstein Makes a Big Call on Steven

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, three players checked to George Bronstein, who bet 4,500 from the button. Brandon Steven shoved all in from the big blind for about 21,700, folding out the players in between. Bronstein called fairly quickly.

Bronstein: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Steven: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Steven expressed surprise at the call, and it proved profitable as Steven missed his myriad outs when the {7-Spades} and {2-Clubs} hit.

"I just didn't put you on the ace," Bronstein said simply.

"Hell of a call," Bronstein's neighbor said. "Hell of a call."

Philachack Gets There; Hine and Yaw Eliminated

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Andy Philachack just won a huge three-way all in and retold the action, which was later corrected by Ashley Hine.

The hand started with Hine making it 2,400 from under the gun. Mike Haw three-bet to 5,800 in middle position, Philachack cold-called from the hijack and Hine called as well.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Hine led out for 6,500. Yaw shoved around 41,500, Philachack came over the top all in and Hine went into the tank. After a minute, she overcalled to put her tournament life on the line.

Ashley Hine: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Mike Yaw: {Q-}{J-}
Andy Philachack: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds}, which completed Philachack's flush draw and left the others drawing dead. The meaningless river was the {10-Clubs} and both Hine and Yaw were eliminated.

Maria Ho

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Ho was able to dodge the flush draw and double up.

Philachack Wins Raising War with Lapossie

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

On a flop of {5-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, three players checked to Andy Philachack, who bet 3,500 into a pot of about 18,000 from the button. The big blind called before Matthew Lapossie made it 11,000 to go after another player folded. Philachack dropped in a raise to about 25,000, and Lapossie quickly followed the big blind into the muck.

Robert Wolf Feels Lucky

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Robert Wolf raised to 2,500 and a player shoved all in for 12,525 and Wolf called.

"I'm feeling lucky," said Wolf, "I don't have much."

"Me neither," his opponent replied.

Wolf was in the lead with {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} against the {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} his opponent held. Neither player connected with the board, but Wolf won the pot and earned the elimination with queen-high.

Updated Counts

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Value Bluff by Staats

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

From middle position, Chris Staats bet 5,000 on a completed board of {3-}{7-}{6-}{j-}{k-}. His opponent on the left asked if Staats had anything, and Staats double-checked his holding as if to see. The player on his left splashed in a call, and Staats tabled {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for an ace-high bluff. However, his kicker played against {a-}{8-}.

"That was not a value-bet," he said with a laugh.
