Final Starting Flight of WinStar River Poker Series $2 Million Guaranteed Main Event Kicks Off at Noon

With 65 players already qualified for Day 2 of the WinStar River Poker Series $2 Million Guarantee Main Event, Day 1c offers the remaining field their last chance to book a seat into Day 2.

There have been several players firing that have yet to book a seat and they are expected to give it another shot today when Day 1c starts at noon. WinStar Ambassador Maria Ho has fired the past two days but has been unable to pick up any traction. She lost a three-way pot with queens against ace-king and eights. She couldn't dodge an ace and was eliminated. There is no doubt Ho has the chops to make a deep run, but we'll see if the cards cooperate today.

Former Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker took yesterday off to enjoy the start of college football but will be back in the field today battling for his spot. Marvin Rettenmaier showed up late yesterday and max late regged. He will likely be back today for another bullet or two, depending on how the first one goes.

All the players will start with 25,000 chips and play as many 40-minute levels as it takes to cull the field to the final 12%. Registration is open until the start of level ten, right after the one-hour dinner break.

Keep up with all the Day 1c action as the last flight sets their sights on Day 2. All the updates will be right here on Pokernews.

After building a big lead early in Day 1a of the WinStar River Poker Series Main Event, Matthew Lapossie went on to bubble Day 2.

He lost with {a-}{k-} to the pocket fives of Maxx Coleman, who bagged the Day 1a chip lead with more than 800,000.

Lapossie is back in the field today after taking the day off yesterday and looking to improve by at least one spot and bag Day 2.

A top five finish in this event could put him over the $1 million mark in live tournament earnings. He currently has $835,877 in earnings with his biggest score coming in 2014 when he won WPT Fallsview for $326,235.

He had three cashes this summer at the WSOP after taking a year off.
