Java Eliminated in Four-Way Pot

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Nipun Java
Nipun Java

Jim Carroll opened for 22,000 in middle position and saw huge action behind him. Cory Smith made it 70,000 in the cutoff. Lang Nguyen shoved on the button for about 70,000. Nipun Java looked at his holding in the big blind and let out a chuckle. He assessed the situation and then put in his whole stack, 73,500. Caroll and Nguyen called.

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and the two active players checked down. Carroll opened {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Smith mucked. Nguyen excitedly showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a boat and Java could only shake his head and show {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for the small side pot. Left with just a few thousand, he busted in short order.

James Mordue Folds Queens Thanks to Torn Shorts

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

James Mordue was talking with his friend Todd Elwood and had a tear in the back of his shorts. The tear went pretty much the entire length of his left leg and apparently he didn't notice.

The table let him know and he wasn't too happy.

"These are Burberry shorts, I should have know better than to pay $200 for them."

The players joked about him needing to win the tournament to get more shorts from Wal-Mart and Mordue sat down and raised under the gun.

Tien Phan went all in behind him for 350,000, which was just below Mordue's 390,000.

"I think I should take this as an omen and not play this hand," Mordue said.

He thought for another moment before folding and showing pocket queens. Phan flashed him two aces and Mordue went off to get some new shorts.

Better Than a Double: Chris Barnett Dodges a Straight to Win

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Chris Barnett was in the big blind and before the action was on him, there would be 63,000 extra chips in the pot.

The under the gun player opened to 21,000 and two players called before Barnett shoved all in for 99,500. The original raiser folded quickly and the next player went all in for 112,000. The last player folded and Barnett showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} of his opponent.

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Barnett held on to win the pot and break the 200,000 mark.

Java Gets Lucky

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Nipun Java opened for a raise to about 18,000 and called when a player in the small blind shoved for what looked like 134,000.

Java: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Small blind: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Java was crushed, but the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop changed that in a hurry. The two-time bracelet winner held on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {7-Hearts} river.
