The next hand, Les Meeks shoved all in for 48,500 and Lozano raised to 100,000. The remaining players folded and Lozano put his pocket tens up against the of Meeks.
The board was kind fo Meeks running out with an open-ended straight draw before eventually putting the on the river for the Meeks double.
Day 1b leader Mo Khan came into the day with a huge stack and high hopes, but those hopes have quickly been dashed as he was just eliminated. He shipped his last 70,000 or so in from an early position, and Paul Baffi reshoved from late position to isolate with . Khan had and found no help on the board.
Chris Barnett was in the big blind and before the action was on him, there would be 63,000 extra chips in the pot.
The under the gun player opened to 21,000 and two players called before Barnett shoved all in for 99,500. The original raiser folded quickly and the next player went all in for 112,000. The last player folded and Barnett showed against the of his opponent.
The board ran out and Barnett held on to win the pot and break the 200,000 mark.
The official prizepool is posted and the winner of the WinStar River Poker Series Main Event will take home $400,032, with second place taking home $244,864.
All 113 players who made Day 2 made the money and took home at least the $4,089 min cash. The tournament had 926 total entries.
James Mordue was talking with his friend Todd Elwood and had a tear in the back of his shorts. The tear went pretty much the entire length of his left leg and apparently he didn't notice.
The table let him know and he wasn't too happy.
"These are Burberry shorts, I should have know better than to pay $200 for them."
The players joked about him needing to win the tournament to get more shorts from Wal-Mart and Mordue sat down and raised under the gun.
Tien Phan went all in behind him for 350,000, which was just below Mordue's 390,000.
"I think I should take this as an omen and not play this hand," Mordue said.
He thought for another moment before folding and showing pocket queens. Phan flashed him two aces and Mordue went off to get some new shorts.
Jim Carroll opened for 22,000 in middle position and saw huge action behind him. Cory Smith made it 70,000 in the cutoff. Lang Nguyen shoved on the button for about 70,000. Nipun Java looked at his holding in the big blind and let out a chuckle. He assessed the situation and then put in his whole stack, 73,500. Caroll and Nguyen called.
The board ran out and the two active players checked down. Carroll opened and Smith mucked. Nguyen excitedly showed for a boat and Java could only shake his head and show for the small side pot. Left with just a few thousand, he busted in short order.
Anthony Spinella called a bet of 60,000 in middle position when the big blind bet into him on a board of . The big blind immediately jammed on the river.
"That was fast," Spinella said after about 10 seconds. "I call."
The big blind rolled over for top two, but Spinella had for a set.
