Barker and Jewell Win Pots at Showdown

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Chuck Barker opened to 90,000 from middle position and was three-bet to 260,000 by Joe Cho, who was in the cutoff. Action folded back to Barker and he called. The flop came {q-Hearts}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and both players checked. Action checked through the turn {7-Hearts}, bringing the river {5-Diamonds}. Both players checked once more to take the hand to showdown.

Cho tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Barker showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} to win the pot with a pair of jacks.

Meanwhile, James Jewell and Jim Harris were in a pot on an adjacent table that had around 500,000 in it on a board of {3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Jewell was in the big blind and checked to Harris, who took so long to act that he had a clock called on him. Eventually, he checked back.

Jewell had {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and took down the pot after Harris mucked, unable to beat Jewell's sevens up.

Mark Kehrees Eliminated in 24th Place ($11,464)

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Mark Kehrees
Mark Kehrees

Eric Bunch raised to 95,000 from under the gun, and Mark Kehrees, who had exactly 95,000 left in his stack, called it off in middle position. Mykel Comroe also called in the big blind.

Action checked through a {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} board, and Bunch showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, besting the {7-Spades}{6-Hearts} of Comroe and {k-Spades}{9-Spades} of Kehrees, and Kehrees hit the rail.

Offutt Flops the Nuts and Doubles Through Mordue

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Four players limped in to see a {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop together, and action checked to James Mordue in middle position, who bet 100,000. Action folded to Katherine Offutt, who check-raised all in for 425,000, and Mordue called.

Katherine Offutt: {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
James Mordue: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Offutt's flopped nut straight got a sweat when the {5-Hearts} turn paired the board, giving Mordue outs to fill up and bust Offutt. The {j-Clubs} river bricked off, and Offutt climbs back to over a million.

Barker Gives Mordue the Pile

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Chuck Barker was under the gun and opened with a raise to 75,000. Action folded around to James Mordue, who defended his big blind. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Mordue check-called a continuation-bet of 100,000 from Barber.

The turn was {5-Clubs} and both players checked. Mordue bet 130,000 on the river {7-Clubs} and Barker thought for a bit before announcing he was all in for around 900,000. Mordue thought for over a minute and decided to let his hand go.

McCain Eliminated by Harris

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Marquis McCain was down to his last 390,000 and shoved all in from early position. Action folded around to Jim Harris, who called from one of the blinds.

Marquis McCain: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Jim Harris: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

McCain was in trouble, at risk for his tournament life with an inferior hand to that of Harris. The board offered him no justice, coming {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} to send him home in 25th place.
