Newcombe Rivers Flush On Massey

Action folded to Aaron Massey's small blind and he made it 240,000 to go. Matt Newcombe called from the big blind and the flop came {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Massey continued out for 275,000 and Newcombe called.

They both checked on the turn when the {10-Spades} fell and the {4-Spades} completed the board. Massey checked for a second time and Newcombe bet 545,000. Massey snap called and showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for Massey, Newcombe showed {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for a spade flush.

Zhmutski Sliding

Jay Merchant opened to 200,000 from the cutoff and Peter Zhmutski defended his big blind.

The flop fell {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Zhmutski checked to Merchant who bet 300,000. A call from Zhmutski landed the {J-Diamonds} turn which he checked. Merchant upped his bet to 500,000 this time, getting a fold from Zhmutski after about 60 seconds.

Massey Takes Over One Million From Zhmutski

Peter Zhmutski opened to 200,000 and was called by Aaron Massey from the button. The blinds folded and the paired flop of {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} was shown. Zhmutski continued for 300,000 and Massey quickly moved out calling chips.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and Zhmutski reduced this size of his bet by moving 200,000 into the middle. Massey called once again. The {Q-Clubs} came on the river and Zhmutski bet 400,000. Massey took about twenty seconds before announcing a call.

"I have king-high," said Zhmutski.

"Show that shit!" replied Massey.

Zhmutski flipped over {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Massey slapped {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the table.

"He tried to bluff me," Massey announced, "But I got him!"

Massey Defeats Cardner Twice In a Row

Aaron Massey opened to 160,000 from the cutoff and Patricia Cardner called from the big blind.

The flop was {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Cardner check-called a bet of 235,000 from Massey. The turn was the {10-Clubs} and Cardner once again check-called although the amount was slightly smaller--210,000.

They both checked the {K-Diamonds} river and Massey showed {J-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a pair of eights.

The very next hand Massey opened to 160,000 from the hijack. Cardner three-bet to 340,000 from the small blind and it folded back to Massey. Massey quickly moved all in and Cardner folded her cards. She is now down to about 1,300,000 while Massey has soared to 5,000,000.

Cardner Takes Some From Newcombe

Matt Newcombe raised to 200,000 from the hijack and Patricia Cardner called from the button. The flop fell {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Newcombe checked. Cardner fired 150,000 only to have Newcombe make it 335,000 to go. Cardner called.

The turn was the {q-Diamonds} and they both checked. They both did so again on the {7-Spades} river and Cardner showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Newcombe mucked and Cardner took down the pot.

Merchant Doubles Through Newcombe

Jay Merchant has been riding the short stack through what seems to be this entire tournament and he was able to score yet another double up here at the final table.

Aaron Massey made it 160,000 from the button and was called by Matt Newcombe from the small blind and Jay Merchant from the big.

The flop was {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and Newcombe checked. Merchant moved 220,000 to the middle and Massey threw his cards away. Newcombe announced all in and Merchant called for his tournament life:

Newcombe: {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Merchant: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Merchant was ahead and needed to dodge a heart. He did exactly that on the {2-Spades} turn and {K-Diamonds} river. He's now sporting a stack of about 2,100,000.
