Newcombe Doubles Through Robinson

Matt Newcombe opened to 145,000 in the cutoff and Andy Robinson defended his big blind.

Both players checked the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop to see the {A-Clubs} turn. Robinson check-called 165,000 from Newcombe, landing the {2-Diamonds} river. A third check from Robinson led to another Newcombe bet, this one for all of it. Newcombe shoved for 1,095,000, sending Robinson deep into the tank.

After about two minutes, Robinson called.

"Got it," said an excited Newcombe, showing {A-Spades}{8-Spades} for two pair.

Robinson quickly showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} thinking that Newcombe had meant that he got it.

"Nice hand, thought you meant I had it," said Robinson.

Cardner called the bet and they both checked the {A-Diamonds} on the turn and the {j-Spades} on the river.

Cardner showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for a pair of aces and took down the pot.

Robinson Builds Stack Higher

Andy Robinson raised to 125,000 from the button and Peter Zhmutski called from the big blind.

A flop of {3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} was shown to the two competitors and Zhmutski check-called a bet of 150,000. Both checked the {4-Diamonds} turn which prompted the {J-Spades} to come on the river. Zhmutski checked for a third time and Robinson moved 250,000 past the betting line. Zhmutski folded his hand and Robinson was able to take down the pot.

Chris Hooper Eliminated in 8th Place ($69,700)

Chris Hooper opened to 145,000 from middle position and it was three-bet to 445,000 by Peter Zhmutski from the button. Hooper called and the two were heads up to the flop of {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

Hooper open shoved all in for 900,000 and Zhmutski snap called with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Hooper showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and was looking for an ace on the subsequent streets.

The turn brought him a couple of more outs as it was the {J-Diamonds}, pairing his jack. Unfortunately for Hooper, the river was the {8-Clubs} and he was sent home as the 8th place finisher.
