Defending Champion Tucker Eliminates Selbst

Bronson Tucker, who took down this event last year for $640,400, has just eliminated Vanessa Selbst.

As told to us by Tucker, Selbst opened to 1,000 in early position. Tucker re-raised to 2,100 from late position, Selbst called, and the flop fell {J-}{8-}{7-} with two spades.

Selbst check-called 2,600 from Tucker, landing a {5-} on the turn. Both checked through to the {4-} river where Selbst moved all in for 18,100. Tucker called with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, besting Selbst's {A-Spades}{9-Spades} to win the pot and score the elimination.

You can expect to see Selbst back in action on Day 1b tomorrow.

Making a Kelling

Kurt Jewell opened to 850 in early position and was called by Jence Kelling in middle position.

The action remained the same throughout the hand after that, as Jewell check-called bets of 1,200, 2,300, and 4,100 all across the {J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} board. Kelling tabled {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a turned flush, besting Jewell's {A-}{K-}.

Jewell busted shortly thereafter.

Diaz Down and Out

A player opened to 1,000 before the flop only to have David Diaz three-bet all in for his last 8,250 from the cutoff. Selim Mahtab peered down at his cards on the button and moved all in over the top. The rest of the table folded and the hands were tabled to find Diaz crushed.

Diaz: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Mahtab: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The board brought no help to Diaz when it fell {4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and he quickly gathered his belongings and headed out of the tournament area.

Dolan Slips

With the board reading {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, the player in the big blind checked to John Dolan. Dolan fired 900 and his opponent called. The {Q-Hearts} turned and Dolan's opponent check-called for a second time. This time it was for 2,300.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Dolan's opponent bet 3,775. Dolan tanked for about a minute before throwing his hand away and watching the pot be pushed toward the opposite end of the table.

Dolan is now sitting on about 26,000.

One For Jewell

Just before the break, Kurt Jewell picked up a decent pot. With a raise to 800 and two callers before him, Jewell called from the small blind. The big blind came along, too, and the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

Action checked to Justin "Choctaw" Kruger and he bet 1,075. One opponent called before Jewell raised to 4,350, clearing out his opponents and taking down the pot.
