Defending Champ and a Couple Crushers Join the Mix

Level 5 : 200/400, 100 ante

As late registration closed during the break, a few last minute arrivals have entered the field, and most likely all three of these gentlemen are favorites to win.

Shawn Daigle is the defending champion of this event and also won another title during the 2016 World Cup of Cards.

William Blais is a regular crusher here at Playground and also picked up a win during the 2016 festival, including multiple final tables.

David Jeanneau-Cyr scooped four titles in 2016, even hoisting trophies on bac-to-back nights.

Like a Lamb to the Slaughter

Level 4 : 150/300, 75 ante

Laying in the middle of the table in front of John E Slaughter and Sagar Shetye was a completed board reading {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

It appeared Slaughter had made a big bet on the river and Shetye had called. Slaughter tabled {6-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and a stunned Shetye took a moment before tossing his cards towards the muck.

Gemmill Needs Miracle River to Stay Alive

Level 3 : 100/200, 50 ante

On a {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop, Marvin Yousif check-raised all-in and Karyn Gemmill put herself at risk, making the call.

Yousif: {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Gemmill: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Yousif had been caught but the {9-Diamonds} on the turn quickly reversed the fortunes as Yousif made a straight. Gemmill needed a king or queen on the river and sure enough, the dealer fanned out the {q-Diamonds} and Gemmill's full house earned her the double up.

Gennings Banks Off the Top End

Level 2 : 50/100, 25 ante

Facing a bet and a call of 600 from two players in early and middle-position, Daniel Gennings made the call from the cutoff on the turn of a {4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board.

The river was the {5-Spades} and the first player to act checked. The player in middle-position fired a bet of 1,550 and Gennings called. The early position player called as well.

The player in mid-position tabled {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a wheel but Gennings tabled {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for the top end of the straight. The other player mucked and Gennings raked in the pot.
