World Cup of Cards Rolls on With Day 2 of the Grand Prix Canada

The second running of Playground Poker Club's World Cup of Cards (WCC) has been going on for a week now with Day 1 flights of the $1,000,000 guaranteed partypoker Grand Prix Canada. After 12 online flights on partypoker and 19 live flights held at Playground, 333 players will return this afternoon for Day 2.

When action resumes at 1 p.m. Donald Cowie will kick off the day with the chip lead, freshly bagged during Saturday’s Day 1o flight. Cowie has a huge lead with his 2,250,000 stack. The only player to cross the 2-million mark.

Cowie’s closest competition is Victor Rusu with 1,847,000. Other top stacks belong to Graham Lupton (1,678,000), Jean-Francois Marin (1,597,000), Brian Van Bart (1,584,000), Andrew Fahey (1,577,000), and Joseph Abou Khalil (1,533,000).

Though the prize pool and payout structure have yet to be released, anyone taking a seat today is already in the money. Each player has also already been paid out a cash prize of $400 which they received immediately after bagging their Day 1 stack.

Notables looking to make a deep run include Sammy Chao (1,065,000), the defending champion Cassidy Battikha (690,000), Brady Hinnegan (673,000), and Mike Leah (437,000).

Play on Day 2 is scheduled for 14 40-minute levels starting at Level 16. Blinds will start at 5,000/10,000 and there will be a 15-minute break every three levels.

Good luck to all players today and stay tuned to PokerNews as we will be on the floor providing live-updates and coverage throughout the day and across the whole WCC festival.
