Knot Check-Shoves the Turn

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Debra Ann Holman raised to 2,400 from the cutoff and Simon Pin-Disle three-bet to 9,000 on the button. Christina Knot called from the big blind and Holman mucked.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Knot check-called a bet of 10,000 from Pin-Disle.

The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Knot checked again. Pin-Disle bet 16,500 and Knot check-shoved for about 50,000. Pin-Disle folded and Knot raked in the pot.

Local Legend Bob T Hits the Rail

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

We got to the table as Bob T was all-in for his last 28,800 with {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, up against Etienne Leduc's {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The board ran out {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Bob was eliminated.

Bob explained that he lost a big pot early after flopping the nut straight, but his opponent rivered a boat for a massive 170,000-chip pot. Luckily Bob had the sense to check back on the river and not fall for the trap.

Bob is debating hopping back in to take another shot, so don't count this local legend out!

Lam Gets Taken Dao'n

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Quyen Dao
Quyen Dao

With 35,000 in the middle, on a board reading {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Kieu Hoa Lam checked from the small blind, as did Pierre-Luc Gaudreau from the big blind and Quyen Dao in the hijack. Fakher Alizai was in the cutoff and bet 16,000. Lam check-raised all-in for 41,800 and Gaudreau went into the tank. He looked like he was torn by the decision but after about a minute he folded. Dao called, and after a moment of thought Alizai called also.

The turn was the {k-Clubs} and Dao led out for 55,000. Alizai went into the tank but eventually folded.

Lam tabled {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for top two pair, but Dao revealed {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a set of jacks. Lam needed to hit a king to survive but the river was the {3-Spades} and he was sent to the rail.

Iacovella Shows a Boat

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With 17,000 in the pot, on a board reading {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Linda Huard led out for 6,000 from the big blind. A player in early position called but Luciano Iacovella had other plans and raised it up to 20,500. Huard called and the early-position player tank-folded.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and Huard checked. Iacovella stacked up his chips and thought for about thirty seconds before deciding to move all-in for 45,400. Huard thought about it but eventually folded.

"Good fold" said Iacovella, tabling {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a full house. Huard let out a huge sigh and Iacovella raked in the pot.

David Guay Busts Tina S

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
David Guay
David Guay

A player in middle position raised to 3,500 and David Guay called from the cutoff. Tina S was on the button and moved all-in for 47,000. The middle-position player thought for a moment but eventually folded. Guay looked at the tournament clock and then back at his hand a couple of times before eventually calling.

Tina was at risk with {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} but was very much behind Guay's {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. "I had ace-ten of spades" said the middle-position player.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} and Guay flopped a pair of aces. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Tina was drawing dead to the {q-Hearts} on the river, sending her to the rail.

Guay now has over triple the starting stack with just a couple of levels to go in the day.
