The opening flight of the $1,100 Playground1000 $1,000,000 guaranteed event is in the books and it's Georges Hallak who leads the way in the first of four live starting flights.

The day ended with 82 hopefuls moving on to Day 2 on Monday, September 4th at 5:00 p.m. at the ever-popular Playground Poker Club in beautiful Kahnawake, Quebec in Canada.

Hallak called a big shove midway through the day with a set of eights and never really looked back. He comes back with 626,500 chips on Day 2, good for 261 big blinds. The next-biggest stack belongs to Benoit Lord with 453,800 and local notable Sam Chartier with 452,200 rounding out the top three.

Other notable stacks include partypoker Team Pros Kristen Bicknell (352,300) and Natalia Breviglieri (153,300), Mike Leah (348,500), Guillaume Nolet (300,000),Dustin Melanson (278,300), Jean-Pascal Savard (239,500), Marc Karam (171,800), Michael Malm (155,000), Alexandre Lavigne (125,600) and Carter Swidler (31,000).

The day ended with 160 entries, and while a little more than half of the field advanced, players have the option of re-entering once per day as well as before registration closes after Level 12 on Day 2.

With half of the field gone, many familiar faces failed to find a bag including Pierre Paul Paulin, Peter Chien, Isabelle Tremblay, Patrick Braga, Jeff Cormier, Fabio Luongo, David Ormsby and Jiachen Gong.

There are three more starting flights left, so keep following along as PokerNews brings you all of the action on the way to crowning another big winner here at the World Cup of Cards.
