Thomas Lefort Out in 12th Place

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A short-stacked Thomas Lefort stuck his last 17,200 in the middle preflop and was called by Samuel Panzica. Lefort was ahead with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} of Panzica. Lefort held through the flop but Panzica had a flush draw. The turn bricked as well but Panzica hit his flush on the river to end Lefort's run.

Triple Barrel Doesn't Scare Raus

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Martin Raus opened to 3,000 on the button, Pierre-Paul Paulin three-bet to 7,600, and Raus made the call. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Paulin fired 6,600, which was called by Raus. The {2-Spades} fell on the turn and Paulin bet 11,800. Raus quickly called again.

The {k-Clubs} dropped on the river and Paulin loaded up once more, this time, for 13,600. Raus called instantly and Paulin mucked just as quick. Raus took down the pot without a showdown.

Start of Day 2 Chip Leader, Pascal Lefrancois

Day 2 of the World Cup of Cards (WCC) Event # 22: $5,000 NL Hold'em 8-Max is set to resume at 2 p.m. inside Playground Poker Club this afternoon. Day 1 chip leader Pascal Lefrancois takes the top spot entering play with 11 hopefuls in the hunt behind him, all vying for the $76,830 first-place prize.

Backed by a monster pot on the last hand of the night on Day 1, Lefrancois will begin Day 2 with 210,900. Lefrancois' closest competitor is WCC Event #9 winner, Francois Goulet with 148,700. World Series of Poker Main Event November Niner Marc-Etienne McLaughlin, World Poker Tour champion Chanracy Khun, and Samuel Chartier are also in the mix.

Though originally scheduled to play for three days, there is a very good chance a new WCC champion will be crowned sometime this evening. Play will resume on Level 11 with blinds starting at 600/1200 and a 200 ante.
