Alexander Villa
Alexander Villa

The final six players are set and they will head to Day 3 of WPT National Montreal. Alexander Villa leads the way with 3,530,000. Nathan Hall is close behind 3,140,000 .

After a huge three-way all in pot saw Peter Johnson Jr. eliminated in 7th place and Hall shoot to second in chips, the final six players of WPT National Montreal had a choice whether to continue play or not. The decision had to be unanimous, and a couple players quickly said they would prefer tomorrow. With that, play ended and the final six players will return tomorrow at 1p.m.

On the final hand, Senthuran Vijayaratnam, who entered the day as the chip leader, dropped to under ten big blinds. He had been among the bigger stacks before he ran his {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} into the {k-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} of Hall. He will return tomorrow with 275,000.

Peter Johnson Jr.

Nathan Hall opened under the gun with a raise to 60,000. Peter Johnson Jr. then shoved all in over the top for 355,000. Jeffrey Cormier was next to act and he verified the amount before calling Johnson's all in.

The next player to act was Senthuran Vijayaratnam. He began Day 2 as the chip leader with 44 players starting the day. Here was sitting at over 2-million chips and shoved all in.

Hall was next to act and went all in as well. The action was now back on Cormier who called the original all in for 355,000. Cormier did have Vijayratnam covered just barely, but decided to fold and leave the three players to settle the hand between themselves.

The hands:

Hall turned over {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and was in the lead. Vijayaratnam was looking for an ace with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Johnson Jr. was in bad shape holding {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The board:

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Hall won the hand and soared to over 3-million chips. Johnson Jr. was eliminated and Vijayaratnam ended the hand just below 300,000, which was roughly about nine big blinds.

Johnson will take home CAD $12,500 for his 7th place finish.

Zheng Wei

There are two tables left in WPT National Montreal. Zheng Wei was just eliminated by Jeffrey Cormier and Michael Mellor three-bet shoved on Peter Johnson Jr.

  • Cormier and Wei got all in preflop with Cormier holding {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against Wei's {a-}{10-}. The flop cames {q-}{2-}{2-} and gave Cormier a full house. Wei didn't catch up on the turn and river and was eliminated in 12th place.
  • Meanwhile at the other table, Michael Mellor bet 60,000 from the cutoff and Peter Johnson Jr. Johnson Jr. reraised to 167,000 before Mellor shoved all in, which would put Johnson Jr. at risk. He folded and Mellor said that he had {a-}{a-}.

Tomislav Pavkovic Eliminated in 17th Place ($4,700)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Tomislav Pavkovic
Tomislav Pavkovic

Tomislav Pavkovic has been eliminated after an unfortunate series of hands.

He got all in against Jeffrey Cormier with an over pair on a seven-high board. Cormier called off with a flush draw with an ace and hit an ace on the turn. The result of the hand sent Pavkovic into a bit of a tizzy. He looked to be escorted away from the table after he told Cormier that he was "bananas" for calling off his stack with only a flush draw.

When he returned to the table after a few minutes, he got all in with 21,000 chips against Senthuran Vijayaratnam and Jason Mandici-Turcot.

The board came {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and the two players with chips left checked. The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Vijayaratnam checked again. Mandici-Turcot bet and Vijayaratnam folded. Mandici-Turcot showed {8-}{8-} for a set of eights, but Pavkovic still had outs with {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

The river was the {5-Spades} and that spelled the end of the line for Pavkovic, who was eliminated in 17th place.
