Suited Connectors Work Well for Karamalikis

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante
Jonathan Karamalikis
Jonathan Karamalikis

We didn't catch all of the action, but three players went to the {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and one player was all in. Jonathan Karamalikis and the third player in the hand were still active and checked to the {8-Clubs} turn card. This is where Karamalikis got the remainder of his stack in with the {8-Spades}{7-Spades} and was at risk versus the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. The player who was previously all in held the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

The {7-Diamonds} river completed the board and allowed Karamalikis to scoop the nice pot, busting one player in the process.

It's Good To Be the Champ

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Ryan Riess, winner of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event, just busted a payer to move to 6,100 in chips, but he didn't do so without coming from behind.

When the money went in preflop, Riess had the worst of it. His opponent had the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} to Riess' {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The flop, turn, and river ran out {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} to give Riess the victory with a set of sevens.

Rousso Gets There

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

After a great start with the double up in the very first hand, Vanessa Rousso "hit a hundred middle pairs that were no good" when we caught up with her during the break. She lost some more chips in the previous 20 minutes and saw a three-way hand to the {Q-Spades} {A-Spades} {4-Spades} flop.

Scott Clements checked out of the small blind and the player on the cutoff bet 475. Rousso moved all in for 1,575 and Clements folded, her opponent tank-called with the {A-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}. Rousso was behind with {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} but had plenty of outs to improve. The {10-Clubs} on the turn was one of those cards and the {7-Clubs} on the river got her back above starting stack.

Rollercoaster for Cohen

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Sam Cohen has been one of the most active players thus far in the first two levels and she continued the wild ride into Level 3. This time it cost her 4,225 in chips after she got into a raising war with the player in the big blind and had the opponent at risk with the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. Cohen's hand was only second best to the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} of her opponent, though, and the {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades} board changed nothing.
