Gross Takes a Nice Pot

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jeff Gross went heads-up to the {4-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {A-Clubs} flop and the player in the big blind as well as Gross both checked. On the {5-Spades} turn, a bet of 550 was check-called and Gross had to fire again the {7-Hearts} for 650 when the action got checked to him for the third time in a row. This time he got through with it and didn't have to reveal his cards in order to claim the chips.

Mohsin Charania was all in with the {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} against the {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for Van Marcus. The flop, turn, and river ran out {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and Charania was eliminated from the Day 1c flight.

Hellmuth Doubles Through Colman

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth opened the action with a raise from middle position and both players in the blinds including Julius Colman called to see the {8-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} flop. The action was checked to Hellmuth and he bet 250, which was only called by Colman.

The Poker Brat continued with another bet of 450 on the {5-Diamonds} turn and Colman check-called to check-raise all in as soon as the {9-Diamonds} river appeared. Hellmuth had bet 1,100 and snap-called all in, turning over {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} for a full house. Colman could not beat that with {J-Spades} {5-Spades} and shipped the pot over to the other side of the table.

Watson Finds an Ace to Stay Alive

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

The preflop action escaped us, but we do know that Mike Watson got his stack of 2,950 all in against an unknown opponent.

Watson: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Watson needed some help, and he found some when the {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{a-Spades} flop paired his ace. Neither the {5-Clubs} turn nor {6-Clubs} river changed a thing, and Watson secured the much-needed double.

One for Henson

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

"It was actually way too much and I should not have called," said Ray Henson after we saw the player two seats over leave the table. After one limp, Henson raised to 600 and the short stack moved all in for 3,550. We already say that move before against an open raise from Phil Hellmuth and Henson decided to call with pocket nines including the {9-Diamonds}.

He was up against {A-} {J-} and the flop delivered one of the over cards in {Q-Diamonds} {J-} {6-Diamonds}. Fortunately for Henson, two further diamonds appeared on turn and river to give him a flush and the pot.

Esfandiari Falls to Lindeblad

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

Stephen Lindeblad raised to 425 and got a flat call from Antonio Esfandiari one seat over. They went heads-up to the {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} flop and both players checked. On the {7-Clubs} turn, Lindeblad checked and Esfandiari bet 1,000 with approximately 1,200 behind.

Lindeblad said that he "could not put him on a hand" and pushed all in with the by far superior stack and {J-Spades} {7-Spades}. The Magician called off with {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} and could not improve anymore as the {8-Clubs} river completed the board.

Bartrom Takes from Shack-Harris

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Brandon Shack-Harris, who currently leads the 2014 World Series of Poker Player of the Year race, opened for 500 from early position and received a call from Mark Bartrom in the big blind. Bartrom proceeded to check-call a bet of 500 on the {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop, and then both players checked the {4-Hearts} turn. When the {7-Spades} completed the board on the river, Bartrom fired out 850 and Shack-Harris called.

Bartrom tabled the {q-Spades}{a-Clubs} for queens and sevens with an ace kicker, and it was good as Shack-Harris flashed the {Q-Hearts} before folding his hand.

Meanwhile, Jan Suchanek was eliminated from the tournament.
