Bruno Portaro Eliminated in 13th Place (AU$8,041)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Bruno Portaro - 13th Place
Bruno Portaro - 13th Place

Bruno Portaro jammed all in on the {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and was quickly called by Brian McAllister. Portaro was stuck with his hand in the cooking jar, turning over the {7-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a gutshot straight draw. McAllister had flopped top pair, top kicker with the {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and would need to hold to earn the elimination.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and improved McAllister to two pair, but he still just needed to fade an eight.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs}, and that was that. McAllister ended with a full house and busted Portaro in 13th place.

Aaron Lim Eliminated in 14th Place (AU$8,041)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Aaron Lim
Aaron Lim

Ryan Hong started the action with a raise and Aaron Lim moved all in for approximately 75,000 in chips. The action was folded back to Hong and he made the call to launch yet another crucial coin flip:

Lim: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Hong: {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs}

The board delivered two pair but Hong's pocket pair was not counterfitted on {3-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. Lim dominated the last few levels until he simply ran bad and the 14th-ranked player on the all-time money list for Australia was sent to the rail.

Guerin Gets Active Again

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We haven't really seen much from Didier Guerin in the past few levels and his former big stack melted away. Just now he got involved in a pot with Thomas Gleeson and min-raised the {2-Spades} {Q-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Spades} turn from 21,000 to 42,000. Gleeson folded rather quickly and Daniel Murphy stood up to release some frustration.

Lindeblad Is Back

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Stephen Lindeblad
Stephen Lindeblad

Stephen Lindeblad is back, and he's better than ever now with over 200,000 in chips thanks to quad aces.

First, was all in on the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop with the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} against the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for Luke Brabin. The turn was the {6-Hearts} to give Lindeblad a full house, and he stayed in the lead from there after the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Shortly thereafter, Lindeblad had raised the button to 8,000, and Thomas Gleeson called from the small blind. Aaron Lim was in the big blind and jammed all in, having both players well covered. Lindeblad snap-called for his 96,000, and Gleeson folded.

Lindeblad had the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Lim had the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop was a big one for Lindeblad, coming down {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and giving him quads. Lim would need runner-runner perfect to a royal flush, but the {8-Spades} hit the turn and left him drawing dead. The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts}, and Lindeblad pulled in the pot.

Bobby Zhang Eliminated in 15th Place (AU$8,041)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Bobby Zhang
Bobby Zhang

Ryan Hong opened the action with a raise to 9,000 from the hijack and it got folded around to Bobby Zhang in the big blind. He moved all in and Hong asked for a count before making the call for 55,500 chips in total.

Zhang: {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Hong: {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

The big stack immediately hit two pair on the {2-Spades} {A-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} flop and they shook hands after the {5-Spades} turn. A meaningless {4-Spades} river completed the board and Hong as well as Zhang exchanged some words still before the latter headed to the payout desk.

Lindeblad Steaming

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We didn't catch the entire action, but Stephen Lindeblad was rambling after a queen high river with three diamonds on the board. The {4-Diamonds} was the final community card, which completed a flush for Luke Brabin with {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Lindeblad said he had "top two" and had some words for his opponent still.

In the next 10 minutes he may very well be back around 200,000 again, though.

James Kinnane Eliminated in 16th Place (AU$6,660)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
James Kinnane
James Kinnane

Down to only three big blinds, James Kinnane moved all in and got called by Kahle Burns and Ryan Hong in the two seats over. They checked down the {6-Hearts} {5-Spades} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} board and Burns showed {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}. Hong mucked and Kinnane also threw his {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} into the muck as well before heading to the payout desk.

Mace Turco Eliminated in 17th Place (AU$6,660)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Mace Turco - 17th Place
Mace Turco - 17th Place

From middle position, Zane Ly raised all in for 36,500. Behind him, Mace Turco went all in for 31,000 from the cutoff seat. James Kinnane then re-jammed from the small blind, and Kahle Burns folded from the big blind.

Ly had the best of it with the {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Turco had the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and then Kinnane had the {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

The flop, turn, and river kept Ly in front as the dealer ripped off the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Turco, the shortest of the three stacks, was eliminated. Kinnane was knocked all the way down to 13,000, while Ly tripled his stack.

Gupta Doubles Through Lim

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Only a few minutes after the previous confrontation, Aaron Lim and Piyush Gupta would clash again and Gupta was at risk for around 15 big blinds with {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}. Lim had him dominated with {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and Gupta already grabbed his belongings and was about to leave.

The {9-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Clubs} flop gave him some hope and the {J-Spades} turn generated some gasps on the table. The {7-Hearts} river completed the board and Gupta sat back down.
