Sclavos Scores Double Elimination

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

After Eric Sclavos opened with a raise, the player in the cutoff three-bet all in for right around 10,000. The player in the small blind then called off for roughly 8,000, and Sclavos called to put both players at risk.

Sclavos: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Cutoff: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Small Blind: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Everyone had a little something, but as the cards sat Sclavos was best with queens. The {3-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} flop changed that as the cutoff made a pair of aces, and that left Sclavos shaking his head. The {4-Spades} turn changed nothing, but the {Q-Hearts} river did. Sclavos spiked a queen to retake the lead and send the other two players to the rail.

Negreanu Sliding

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened for 950 from middle position and San Ruha looked him up. The {3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop saw Ruha call a bet of 1,600, and then he called one of 2,800 when Negreanu bet the {A-Hearts} turn. Both players then checked the {6-Diamonds} river and Negreanu rolled over the {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens. It was no good though as Ruha held an overpair with the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Easy Come, Easy Go

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jeff Rossiter late registered this event at the last minute, and he didn't last very long. We missed his elimination hand, but a dealer was kind enough to inform us that Rossiter got his stack all in holding the {a-Spades}{2-Spades} only to run into an opponent's {k-}{k-}. There would be no tomfoolery, and Rossiter left just as quickly as he came.

A Few Late Registrants

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

After busting Event #1 $1,100 Accumulator in 22nd, George Danzer jumped straight into Event #2. Danzer earned 17 WSOP Player of the Year points and now leads Brandon Shack-Harris, who has already busted Event #2, 762.5 to 760.5 in the POY race.

"Nice Hand, Ami"

Ami Barer
Ami Barer

Reigning Aussie Millions champ Ami Barer opened for 600 under the gun and Dennis Huntly, who was seated to his direct left, made the call. The player in the small blind came along, as did Jeff Gross in the big, and four players saw a flop of {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

Two checks saw Barer continue for 825, and Huntly responded by raising to right around 2,500. The small blind and Gross both folded, and then Barer quickly used both hands to move all in for 6,600. Huntly called.

Huntly: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Barer: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Huntly had flopped top two pair, but it was no good as Barer had a set. Huntly needed a ten to eliminated a tough opponent, but that proved easier said than done as the {Q-Clubs} blanked on the turn followed by the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

"Nice hand, Ami," Huntly offered after the hand.
