Negreanu's Level 3 Heater Continues

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We picked up the action on a {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop when Julian Lee bet 1,000 from the big blind and Phil Ward, who was in the under-the-gun position, raised to 5,150. Daniel Negreanu then three-bet to 15,000 from the hijack, and Lee folded. Ward thought for a few moments before folding, and Negreanu didn't like it.

"I had everything," Negreanu exclaimed before showing the {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for the flopped nuts and a redraw with trip tens.

Negreanu Hits a Royal

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We missed the betting action but the hand cost Bruno Portaro about 9,000 in chips and he had to go for a smoke afterwards. The board completed with {3-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and Daniel Negreanu revealed {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} for a royal flush" "I think I am gonna win this one," he joked.

Negreanu Puts His Tournament Life on the Line

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We missed the action unfold, but we do known that a raising war between Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ward resulted in the former getting his stack all in on the turn with the board reading {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Negreanu: {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Ward: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}

Negreanu held the nuts, but Ward, who had top set, was drawing to a full house and a flush. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {9-Hearts}. Ward bricked and Negreanu was shipped the double.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Australia's poker pride and joy, 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe Hachem, has just taken his seat in the tournament. He's been seated at Table 29 to the direct left of none other than Phil Hellmuth.

Pickering Takes from Wang

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Jonathan Duhamel opened the action for 400 and Michael Wang called from the cutoff. Jamie Pickering came along from the big blind and it was three-way action to the {3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop. Two checks saw Wang bet 800, only Pickering called, and the dealer burned and turned the {Q-Clubs}.

Pickering check-called another bet, this time 1,900, and then both players checked the {3-Clubs} river. Wang rolled over {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{x-} for two pair, but it was second best to Pickering's {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} two pair.

Meanwhile, Mike Goodman was eliminated from the tournament and replaced at his former table by Mike Watson.

The Toothpick is Angry

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Preflop there was quite some action between Tony "Toothpick" Kambouroglou and Bruno Portaro. They saw the heads-up flop of {J-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {Q-Hearts} and Kambouroglou bet, Portaro raised and "Toothpick" moved all in. Portaro snap-called with the {Q-Spades} {J-Spades} {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} and was ahead of {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}.

While the {2-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing, the {8-Spades} on the river gave both players the straight and a split pot. Kambouroglou seemed upset though and Portaro was puzzled. "Why is he angry, he should be happy that he got the chop there," Portaro said.

Back to Starting Stack for Ward

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

It may only be level three but the action is already quite heavy. Phil Ward has had a rough start but just got back to almost the initial stack of 15,000 in chips. He got it in with {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {9-Hearts} versus {J-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {3-Hearts} and the final community card on a board of {10-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} gave him the double up. He did fade the nut flush draw though.

Higgs vs. Hellmuth

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

After Phil Hellmuth opened with a raise from early position, Sam Higgs three-bet to 1,050 from the small blind. Jeff Rossiter folded the big, Hellmuth called, and it was heads-up action to the {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Spades} flop. Higgs was first to act and wasted little time in betting out 1,625, which Hellmuth called.

When the {8-Hearts} peeled off on the turn, Higgs upped the bet to 4,000, and this gave Hellmuth pause. He pulled his cards up to eye level and began shuffling them back and forth. He then folded the {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades}{9-Spades} face up.
