Welcome back to Crown Melbourne and 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific for Day 3 of the Event 9: AU$10,000 Main Event!

Yesterday saw the returning 182 players and five new entrants battle it out as players set their sights on capturing a piece of the AU$3.125 million prizepool. As players began jostling for position throughout the day, the player counter slowly trickled down before everyone was eventually located inside the main tournament area. As the dust settled and the chips were bagged and tagged, there would be just 70 players remaining to leave us just 34 spots away from the guaranteed AU$20,003 that accompanied finishing in the top 36.

Kyle Montgomery is the overnight chip leader with an amassed 595,000-chip stack after vaulting into the chip lead in the last level of the night when his aces ran into Timo Pfutzenreuter's kings to see a 500,000-chip pot shipped his way.

the field shrink dramatically as players jostled for position as they began making a run at the moneymade a run at first reaching the in-the-money top 36 players before setting their sights on the AU$850,136 first prize.20003

The 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific continued Tuesday with Day 2 action from the AU$10,000 Main Event, a tournament that attracted 329 players and created a prize pool of AU$3.125 million. The money will be distributed to the top 36 players with the winner taking home AU$850,136.

Day 2 began with 182 returning players from the two starting flights, as well as five players that opted to take advantage of late registration. After six 90-minute levels of play, just 70 players remained with Kyle Montgomery and his chip stack of 595,000 leading.

Victor Teng (511,800), Jackie Glazier (444,700), Ivan Zhou (430,000), and Henry Wang (307,100) all round out the top five chip counts while the likes of 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela (267,500); 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific bracelet winners Alexander Antonios (228,000) and Sam Higgs (117,800); European Poker Tour Grand Final runner-up Jack Salter (171,500); Australian sports legend Shane Warne (162,300); former $50,000 Poker Player’s champ Brian Rast (136,600); and Day 1a chip leader Tobias Reinkemeier (93,900) are all still alive.

Play is set to start at 12:30 p.m. local time with the plan to play another full day of poker or down to the final 16 players. Make sure to join the PokerNews Live Reporting team as provide continuous live updates from Day 3 of the Main Event.
