Ruter Takes One Off Deeb

Michael Ruter opened the button to 1,000 before Shaun Deeb called from the small blind and the big blind defended.

The A♥6♠K♦ flop landed and the action quickly checked through to a Q♣ turn. When it checked to Ruter again he opted to bet for 1,600 and only Deeb called.

The blank 2♣ rolled off on the river and the action checked to Ruter for the last time. He sat in the tank for a moment and then sized up with a big wager of 7,200. Deeb went into the tank and attempted to use some table talk to get a read. Eventually he tossed in a call and got the bad news.

Ruter tabled J♦10♠ for the stone cold nuts and Deeb mucked.

Chu Wins a Three-Handed Affair

Warren Chu raised to 700 from under the gun and found callers in both David Ganim from middle position and Mir Gaskari in the big blind before all three headed to a 9♦7♦J♣ flop.

Gaskari and Chu checked the action over to Ganim who counted out a bet of 1,000. Both Gaskari and Chu called to see the turn bring the 8♥.

All three players checked to see the river come the Q♠.

Gaskari checked over to Chu who grabbed chips and made a bet of 4,000. Both of his opponents quickly folded, sending the pot to Chu without showdown.

On a completed board of A♠Q♠4♦7♣7♠, Alexandru Papazian had a bet worth 11,200 paid off by Renan Menezes and tables the 9♠8♠ for a flush, which happened to be good enough to drag in the pot.

Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Papazian confirmed a decent start into Day 1a, while Menezes has already lost a significant chunk of his stack.

Yasuhito Abe raised and Daniel Weinman defended the big blind. They checked the 9♠8♠4♠ flop and the 7♥ followed on the turn. Weinman bet 800 and Abe called.

On the Q♥ river, Weinman bet 4,800 and Abe reluctantly called to get shown the J♥10♠ for a straight.

"Never bluff," the 2023 WSOP Main Event champion declared with a big grin on the face.

Abdulla Ceesvin raised to 600 and earned a single caller in Ethan Cook, who then check-called a bet of 800 on the K♠8♦4♣ flop. They checked the 8♠ turn and 10♠ river as Cook revealed A♣4♠ for eights and fours. That was good enough to win the pot, Ceesvin mucked.

The 6♦7♣3♣ flop landed and the action checked all the way through a 9♣ turn and K♣ river.

Weinman showed down 8♣8♦ and his opponent showed king-ten offsuit with no club. Weinman keeps the run-good going.

The flop came K♠6♥2♦. Basile checked, Markowich bet 700, Seaton folded and Basile called.

Markowich bet again for 1,700 when checked to on the 8♣ turn and this time it was enough to force a fold from Basile.

Action folded to Devin Ullman in the hijack who raised to 500 only to see Xing He come in for a three-bet to 1,800. Ullman made the call to bring out the 9♠2♠A♦ flop.

Ullman checked over to He who continued with a bet to 1,500. Ullman wasted little time in making the call to bring out the 8♠ on the turn.

Action checked through to see the 7♣ fall on the river.

Ullman paused briefly before reaching into his stack and coming back out with a bet of 7,000. He was quick to fold and send the pot to Ullman with no showdown.
