Zubov Gets Called Lightly

Level 29 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Ren Lin opened to 2,400,000 on the button with Q9 and was called by Michael Addamo in the small blind with 76. Alexander Zubov shipped all in for 9,900,000 in the big blind with 55 which got called by Lin and Addamo stepped aside.

The flop came AJJ and the pair of fives from Zubov was still in the lead. The 2 on the turn was clean and the K on the river ensured him of an early double up with just three tables remaining.

What is a player to do when they love tournament poker, their mind allows them to compete against the best of the best, but their body doesn’t want to cooperate? That’s a question “Texas” Mike Moncek, who suffers from a heart condition, asked himself Wednesday night after playing in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise Event #7: $100,000 Triton Main Event.

The tournament, which is being live reported by PokerNews, attracted 182 entrants and offered up an $18,200,000 prize pool. On Day 2, a little over 40 players remained when Texas Mike, in his own words, “punted.”

Zhou Fires the Only Bet

Level 29 : 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Yinan Zhou opened to 2,500,000 from under the gun and action folded around to Sebastian Toro in the big blind. The call was made and the dealer revealed the 8AJ flop.

Toro checked, with Zhou following suit to see the 6 turn. Another pair of checks led to the Q river, where Toro tapped the table again.

Zhou slid out a bet of 2,500,000, good enough to claim the pot as Toro mucked.

Boeree vs. Moneymaker

Liv Boeree opened to 2,500,000 in middle position with Q10 and Chris Moneymaker called in the big blind with 98.

Moneymaker checked on the flop of 107K and Boeree continued for 2,000,000. Moneymaker called.

Moneymaker checked again as the 6 turn gave him a straight and Boeree checked back.

Moneymaker had the nuts on the 3 river and he bet 8,000,000. Boeree laid it down.

Wang Gets the Right Hand to Call

Level 29 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Liv Boeree opened to 2,500,000 in early position with A9 and Michael Addamo three-bet to 7,000,000 in the cutoff. Yang Wang four-bet shoved all in for 14,000,000 in the big blind which got Boeree to fold but Addamo called.

The flop fell 997 and Wang's ace-high was still in the lead. The 2 on the turn and the A on the river secured the double up for Wang, although Boeree gave a reaction for what would have been a full house for her.

Lehmann Hits an Ace

Level 29 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Georg Lehmann was all-in for 12,700,000 in early position against Roland Rokita behind him.

Lehmann was in trouble but took a lead on the A54 flop before the board finished out 75.

Boeree Shoves on Zubov

Level 29 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Alexander Zubov opened to 2,400,000 in the hijack with KQ and Liv Boeree called in the big blind holding A7. The flop came K75 and Boeree check-called a bet of 2,200,000 from Zubov.

The 7 paired the board on the turn and Boeree checked again after improving to the best hand. Zubov counted out a bet of 5,500,000 and Boeree check-raised all in as the bigger stack. Zubov went into the tank for over three minutes before finally sending his cards into the muck.

Hissou Pips Toro

Level 29 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Sebastian Toro raised to 2,500,000 from the hijack and was called by Sirzat Hissou on the button and Marcelo Aziz in the big blind. The flop came AK5 and Toro continued with a bet of 2,500,000. Hissou called and Aziz got out of the way.

The turn brought the K and both players checked through to the 7 on the river. Toro checked again and Hissou tapped the table as well. Toro turned over A8 but Hissou held A9 for the better kicker to claim the pot.

Melogno Three-Bets the Flop

Level 29 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Justin Bonomo opened to 2,400,000 in the cutoff and Marcelo Aziz made the call on the button. Pablo Melogno followed with a call in the big blind.

The dealer flipped over the 5K7 flop, where Melogno led out for 2,300,000. Bonomo took a moment before folding, while Aziz announced a raise to 7,500,000.

Melogno sat still for a few moments before announcing a raise of his own, three-betting to 20,500,000.

After confirming the amount with the dealer, Aziz let his hand go and Melogno raked in the pot.
