Not Much Action for Dan

It can be difficult to catch "Action" Dan Harrington in a hand. We're never quite sure how he builds up his stack. In that regard he's a poker ninja.

We did see him play a recent hand out of position against Praz Bansi. Bansi opened from under the gun to 2,500 and Harrington, the small blind, was the only caller. Both players checked the {4-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} flop and the {8-Diamonds} turn. When the river paired the board, {10-Clubs}, Harrington bet 3,000.

"I have two pair," said Bansi as he tossed in a call.

"Me too," Harrington replied. He opened {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs} for tens and nines. Bansi, his gaze a bit glazed over, mucked.

It's a Man's World Now

Suzie Lederer

Suzie Lederer couldn't get anything going today, and she was just recently relieved of the rest of her chips. After a quick stop by hubby Howard's table, our last woman standing has made her exit from the tournament.

The Mouth Revs Up

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow
Mike "the Mouth" Matusow has been mostly silent today, but he has busted out with a few flashes of brilliance at random intervals. Earlier in the day he engaged Layne Flack in a dialogue from across the room. Flack was feeling confident about his game.

"You do have Sorel Mizzi at your table though," Matusow noted. "But you have position on him. Nothing better than having position on an idiot." Mizzi just grinned.

More recently, Matusow got up from his table and came over to Patrik Antonius. "Hey Patrik, I heard they're playing $500-$1,000 upstairs, four different games," joked Matusow. He was referring, of course, to the durrrr Challenge in which Antonius has been taking part for most of the year.

Matusow himself has not been playing internet poker since arriving in Cyprus. "The internet here is a joke," he whinged. "It doesn't work. I don't know how it doesn't work, it just doesn't. Next break I have to move rooms."

Martin Kabrhel Plummits to 40k

Having peaked at just over 200,000 earlier in the day, Martin Kabrhel has since dropped to 39,500 after losing a string of big pots. Most recently, he got it all in holding pocket queens against John Lestina's pocket aces and lost over three quarters of his stack.

Still, with approximately 32 big blinds left, he's certainly not out of contention.

Was It a Bluff or Not?

Tommy Vedes
Tommy Vedes
A three-way pot belongs to Tommy Vedes. He was in the blinds and watched as David Levi raised preflop to 4,400. Once Ludovic Lacay called in position, Vedes called as well.

The flop was ace-high, {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts}. Vedes checked to Levi, who fired out 5,500. Lacay and Vedes both called to the turn, a third club, the {5-Clubs}. Everyone checked. When the river paired the board {3-Diamonds}, Vedes bet 14,500.

Levi went into the tank for about a minute and a half before folding his hand. Lacay shook his head and quickly followed suit, prompting Vedes to hold his cards high in the air as a camera crew was right over his shoulder, filming the action. Then Vedes mucked.

"No bluff," said Lacay. "I don't think you can ever bluff there."

"He can tell you," Vedes replied, referring to the cameraman. "Was it a bluff?"

"I don't understand poker. I just work here."

Everyone at the table laughed, but Lacay persisted by asking what cards Vedes had shown. Vedes took the initiative to reply himself.

"Two flowers," he said. Then he added, "You're supposed to call there David. Ace-queen?"

Levi did not reply.

Aboukhalil Pours a Double

Antoine Aboukhalil
Antoine Aboukhalil
Antoine Aboukhalil limped in from early position before Jeremy Kottler stuck in a raise from the big blind. It looked like about 7,000, and Aboukhalil elected to move all in over the top for 19,900. Kottler made the call with the covering stack to put his opponent's tournament life in jeopardy.

Showdown
Aboukhalil: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}
Kottler: {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}

The board would run out safe for the all-in player as it ran out {2-Spades} {A-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Spades}. With his cowboys holding up, Aboukhalil has notched himself a nice double up back over 40,000 for the first time in quite a while.

Gordon Staring at Ceiling

If a poker player is staring at the ceiling, it's never a good sign. On a board of {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {9-Spades} and with about 13,000 in the pot already, Dan Harrington led into Phil Gordon for 9,000 chips. Gordon tanked for a surprisingly long time, long enough for a player at the table to request a clock from TD Jack McLelland. That was enough for Gordon to call.

"Ugh," said Gordon in disgust upon seeing Harrington's full house, fours full of nines, {4-Spades} {9-Clubs}. He angrily flipped his own cards towards the dealer. "Nice catch."

Gordon continues to trend downwards for the day, now sitting with less than 100,000 chips.
