Was It a Bluff or Not?

Tommy Vedes
Tommy Vedes
A three-way pot belongs to Tommy Vedes. He was in the blinds and watched as David Levi raised preflop to 4,400. Once Ludovic Lacay called in position, Vedes called as well.

The flop was ace-high, {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts}. Vedes checked to Levi, who fired out 5,500. Lacay and Vedes both called to the turn, a third club, the {5-Clubs}. Everyone checked. When the river paired the board {3-Diamonds}, Vedes bet 14,500.

Levi went into the tank for about a minute and a half before folding his hand. Lacay shook his head and quickly followed suit, prompting Vedes to hold his cards high in the air as a camera crew was right over his shoulder, filming the action. Then Vedes mucked.

"No bluff," said Lacay. "I don't think you can ever bluff there."

"He can tell you," Vedes replied, referring to the cameraman. "Was it a bluff?"

"I don't understand poker. I just work here."

Everyone at the table laughed, but Lacay persisted by asking what cards Vedes had shown. Vedes took the initiative to reply himself.

"Two flowers," he said. Then he added, "You're supposed to call there David. Ace-queen?"

Levi did not reply.
