Monnette Maneuvers Up the Leader Board

We joined a heads-up pot in progress on Table 6. The first round of action is unclear, but we're guessing that John Monnette raised from the cutoff and Sorel Mizzi called from the button as those two men were the only two responsible for the ~15,000 chips already in the middle of the table.

Joining up now, the flop came down {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}, and Monnette fired out a bet of 13,000. Mizzi took his time to ponder before making the smooth call.

The turn card was the {7-Spades}, and it drew a check-check from the two men. The {A-Diamonds} filled out the board, and Monnette checked again. Mizzi plucked four blue chips from his stack and flicked in a bet of 20,000. Monnette shot a few sideways glances at his opponent before flicking in the calling chips in the same fashion.

Mizzi tabled {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} for second pair, and Monnette revealed his better {A-Spades} {10-Spades} for the rivered pair of aces. He's picked up another nice pot, his stack having swelled to about 175,000 now.
