Mizzi On The Move

Sorel Mizzi seems to have gotten a real good feel for his table, and is now sitting on about 225,000.

We caught up with one particular hand with the flop reading {2-Spades}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Antony Lellouche having checked from first position over to Mizzi, who was on the button. Mizzi bet 6,000, drawing a quick call from Lellouche.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and once again, Lellouche checked to his opponent, who bet out 6,000 again. As he did before the frenchman found a call and the two players went to the river, which fell the {2-Hearts}.

Lellouche checked for a third straight time, however this time Mizzi upped the ante a bit by betting out 11,000. After about ten-seconds, Lellouche made the call only to muck his hand when he saw the {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} of Mizzi.

Antony Lellouche is now on about 130,000.

"Moi Crazier," Says Hairabedian of Giaroni, While Doubling Off Him

Sorel Mizzi set it all off with a standard raise preflop which saw Roger Hairabedian just ship it in for 44,900. This looked like it was going to get back to Mizzi quickly, but no, small blind Gianni Giaroni really tanked about it, finally counting out the call and pushing it forward. This quickly left him heads up with Hairabedian. "I crazy!" announced Giaroni, before being told, "Moi crazier," by his opponent who showed {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} (in fact holding him up to his head like antlers, which gave credence to his statement). Giaroni's {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} was behind, and stayed there. Double to 100k for Hairabedian.

Mizzi Looks Up Lellouche

Sorel Mizzi, though nowhere near as comfortably stacked as Antony Lellouche, hasn't been shy about playing pots with him, even out of position as he just was calling preflop. He check-called Lellouche's 2,500 on the {6-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} flop too, and it all slowed to a double-check on the {3-Clubs} turn. However when Mizzi checked the {4-Clubs} river, Lellouche bet (around 4k). He smiled to see Mizzy call with {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} nicely mirroring his own {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. Chop Chop.

Lellouche and Thorsson Neck and Neck

One busts a player, the other sets one in. One tops 100k, the other follows. Same with 200k and any minute, one imagines, a quarter mil. Antony Lellouche and Kristoffer Thorsson took off in the last two levels and now it's hard to tell between them who's in front.

ElkY Ships, Hits Goldberg

Alain Goldberg is our 14th place finisher, after finding {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, making it 5,500 out of a 19k stack, and getting set in by Bertrand Grospellier. He made the call quickly, but was up against the faces of {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}. They were left smiling as the board: {K-Hearts} {2-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {9-Hearts} left Goldberg drawing to one out on the river which turned to out the door after it.

Cowboys Overcharge ElkY

A strange hand just saw around half of Bertrand Grospellier's remaining chips float over to Hichem Ben Halima on the river. Preflop Grospellier had raised and Ben Halima threebet on the button; call.

Flop: {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} check-check
Turn: {7-Clubs} check-check
River: {K-Hearts} Now Grospellier bet out 7,700. Ben Halima promptly upped it to 17k and after a long think he made the call (and had to break into a new 25k plaque thereafter). Ben Halima showed the {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} which may not have been ahead post-flop until all five cards had come, but which certainly bumped his stack up in the right direction afterwards.

Karam Hits the Rail

The shortest stack by far, under 10k, Joseph Karam found a spot to get a potential triple through, as Antony Lellouche had raised and found button Gianni Giaroni re-raising. In it went, only for Lellouche to isolate by making it 70k. This eventually got rid of Giaroni, who watched Lellouche's {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} stay miles in front of Karam's {A-Spades} {3-Spades} to send him out of the tournament.

Second Break, 15 Remain

With a big pot going to Kristoffer Thorsson just before the break as he set Alain Goldberg all in on a {8-Spades} {10-Clubs} {7-Hearts} flop (declined) he snuck in front of Antony Lellouche for the top chips at the end of the 4th level. They've been gaining almost neck-and-neck but there can be only one leader, and it's the Swede with over 200k.
