The final flight of Event 1 at the Borgata Spring Poker Open has concluded and an unofficial 770 entries put up the $560 buy-in with hopes of getting a shot at part of the $1 million guaranteed prize pool. That brought the total number of entries to a staggering 2,483 (unofficial) - smashing the guarantee by a substantial margin.

At the end of the day, it was Kirkor Tekneci who topped the Day 1d leader board with 333,000 in chips. Rounding out the top three were Tuan Vuong (311,000) and Marcus Cohen (308,500). Other large stacks included well known poker pro Brett Richey (289,500), Hieu Tran (284,000) and Mike Jarvela (267,000). Others to make it through the day included Sean Wallace, Jeffrey Papola, Maggie Morris, Allard Broedelet, Michael Marder, and Anna Khait.

That was the good news. Bad news came to a number of players unfortunate enough to bust before the end of the day. Among those who didn't survive were Cecilia Doyle, Daniel Buzgon, Steve Dannenmann, Russell Crane, Jamie Kerstetter, and 88 year old Dr. Stanley Graham.

All the players will join forces tomorrow as Day 2 gets underway at 12 pm. With somewhere between 525 and 550 players, they will have their work cut out for them before they make the money. The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand from start to finish, providing live continuous coverage of all the Borgata Spring Poker Open events, so keep it here throughout the day to follow all of the action.

Richey Gets Richer

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Brett Richey raised to 8,200 from under the gun, Tim Kelliher called on the button, the player in the small blind called, and Jeff Chan defended his big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, both players in the blinds checked, and Richey tossed out a continuation bet of 16,200. Only Kelliher called.

Both players checked on the turn ({a-Spades}), and the river ({k-Clubs}), and Richey showed {q-Spades}{10-Spades} for effectively ace-high.

It was good.

A few hands later Richey knocked out his neighbor, and he now has over a quarter of a million chips.

The board rolled out {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and the player was eliminated. Zduniak is up above 200,000 chips.
