Daniel Negreanu is back on top of the Global Poker Index, and Eric and Rich discuss whether or not he can hold the top spot throughout April. They also take a look at the reemergence of Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, and offer a few tips for the GPI Fantasy Poker Manager.

Lynch Gets Value

Level 8 : 400/800, 75 ante

Three players took a flop of {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, including Louis Lynch. The trio checked, the turn was the {8-Diamonds}, and a player in the blinds tossed out 4,500. Only Lynch called.

The river was the suicide king ({k-Hearts}), the player led out for 4,000, and Lynch raised to 12,000. His opponent called, then mucked when Lynch tabled {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a turned straight.

Playing it Safe

Level 8 : 400/800, 75 ante

A player raised on the button and was called by a player out of the big blind. The flop came {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and the big blind led out for 6,100. The player on the button (who declined to give us his name) called and off to the turn we went. The dealer placed out the {5-Diamonds} and the player from the big blind led out again, this time for 12,900. The mystery player on the button was quick to make the call.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and this time the player from the big blind slowed down and checked. His opponent raised his arm emphatically above his head as if he were going to tap the table for a check and then thought better of it. He stopped, looked quickly at his opponent who was shuffling chips quickly in both hands, and then put his hand behind his head... all in one fluid motion. He stared down at the pot, looked again at the board, and grabbed a stack of chips as if he were about to make a bet. Finally, he decides to err on the side of caution and checks, turning over {K-}{K-}. The player in the big blind tossed his cards to the dealer and the winner of the hand added to his stack, which is now approaching the 100,000 mark.

Kracking Aces

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

All of the money went in preflop between Frank Callucci and the player to his direct right. Callucci had {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}, but he was dominated by his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{a-}.

The {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop was clean, but the {k-Hearts} spiked on the turn, giving Callucci a set of kings. The {7-Clubs} bricked off on the river, and he successfully doubled to around 40,000 chips.

Buzgon Folds River

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Daniel Buzgon
Daniel Buzgon

Daniel Buzgon and three opponents took a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}. The action checked to a player in late position who tossed out a single yellow T1,000 chip, and Buzgon and a second player called.

The turn was the {a-Hearts}, putting a second ace and a second heart on the board, and Buzgon led out for 2,750. One player called, but the flop bettor raised to 7,000. Buzgon tank-called.

The river was the {2-Spades}, Buzgon checked, and his opponent moved all in for 10,250. Buzgon opted to fold, leaving himself with around 15,000 chips, and his opponent dragged in the pot.

Jamie Kerstetter Eliminated

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

We missed the hand but the seat once taken by Jamie Kerstetter is now vacant. Jamie had told us earlier that she would not re-enter if she went busto so we'll have to wait and see her in a later event.
