Hiatullah Almost Wins a Chopped Pot

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

We picked up the action on the turn when the board read {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, as the action was checked to Sabina Hiatullah who bet 1,600. The first player, Dinesh Alt, called and the second folded, creating heads-up action on the turn.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and both players checked. On the river the {5-Hearts} hit and Hiatullah's opponent lead out for 3,650. The German lady went into the tank for only a few seconds before tossing in the call.

Alt was hesitant to show his cards, but ultimately he did turn over {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Hiatullah smiled and showed he {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} as she laughed and said, "You almost mucked."

Hiatullah ended up chopping the pot after making a brave call, and she sits a little below the starting stack.

Twijnstra Takes One From Berende

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

The action was just folded around to Paul Berende, who raised to 500 from the button. Rolf Twijnstra called from the small blind and the flop showed {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

Twijnstra checked to Berende who bet 700 and the former called. On the turn the {J-Diamonds} hit and Twijnstra lead out for 1,400. The river was the {6-Diamonds} and both players checked.

Twijnstra showed {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Berende smiled as he shook his head and mucked his cards. King high was enough to take it down, and Berende was left with 23,000 chips.

Renkers' Here Too

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Dutchman Patrick Renkers has been a regular on the international poker circuit for many years and he's here today as well. Renkers' biggest claim to fame came at the 2010 Master Classics of Poker when he finished sixth in the Main Event for €93,375 and in the 2011 EPT Prague event where he was chip leader for quite some time before busting in ninth place for €48,000.

Alt's Playing Too

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

We mentioned him before when he played a hand against Sabina Hiatullah, but we had not properly introduced Dinesh Alt yet.

Alt's a native of Switzerland with close to $400,000 in live tournament results, his best score being an ANZPT Sydney victory for $231,548 in 2013. German pro Dominik Nitsche finished third in that event.

Alt also finished fourth in APPT Macau and cashed five times at the 2014 WSOP.

No Luck for Luske

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

The biggest name in today's field has already hit the rail as he was just knocked out by Dino Heco. Our colleagues were kind enough to share the details of his exit with us, and the hand went as following.

Luske raised from middle position to 900 and both blinds, Danny Wuyts and Dino Heco, made the call. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and the action was checked to Luske who bet 3,000.

Wuyts made the call and Heco opted to raise to 22,000 with 3,000 chips behind, putting Luske to the test. Luske had started the hand with 15,000 chips and he called all in after which Wuyts quickly folded.

Heco tabled {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} for top two pair against Luske's {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and the board ran out {8-Spades}, {2-Diamonds}. Luske was knocked out and Heco sits on around 48,000 chips.

Wong's Struggle

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Steve Wong just informed us that he lost a big pot holding pocket queens versus the kings of his opponent. Wong raised before the flop to 1,025, he was three-bet to 2,600 and his opponent made it 6,100. Wong moved all in and his opponent called with kings.

No luck for Wong was who was left behind with 18,000 chips after losing another pot worth around 10,000 chips.

Bui's Table Gets Easier

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

After Marcel Luske was knocked out on the feature table it was Zeus Post who got moved upstairs, away from Oanh Bui's left. Just now we noticed that David Janssen was knocked out from this table as well, and his seat was taken by Stieven Razab-Sekh.

Bui's still sitting pretty on around 30,000 chips.

Berende's Bleak Looking Set

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Paul Berende was just put in tough spot on the river when his set of queens didn't look too good anymore. Berende started the hand with a raise to 900 and two players made the call.

The flop brought out {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Berende bet 1,600, after which one opponent made the call. On the turn the {5-Diamonds} hit and Berende's opponent check-called 2,900. The river was the {4-Hearts} and all of sudden Berende's opponent lead out for 3,500.

Berende tanked for quite a while but eventually he made a reluctant call. Berende was shown {K-Hearts}{6-Spades} and his {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} still turned out to be vicarious on this scary looking board.

"I'm not sure what I would've done if he bet very big," Berende laughed.

A Short Break

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

There's a short five minute break as a part of the tournament starts their 60-minute dinner break. The majority however will continue to play and that means that our dinner break will be in one hour, when the other part of the tournament goes on dinner.
