Gill Has Heaps

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

It appears that Harpreet Gill might be our current chip leader. After a quick scan of the room, it doesn't look like anyone can quite match his 134,000 chips right now.

Here are a few more updated chip counts from notables around the room.

Quang Likes the Turn

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

With the board at the turn and reading {6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, the first player to act checked, another player bet 3,000, and David Quang raised to 8,500.

The player who checked called all in with his remaining 4,500 and the other player took half a minute before folding.

Quang: {7-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The river of {3-Clubs} finished off his opponent and Quang scooped up the pot.

"Nice turn, bra," another player said.

Quang smirked.

Comtois Can't Catch Up

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jason Comtois won the 2014 WPT Canadian Spring Championship here at Playground Poker Club and was back to try for another title, but his run has come to an end.

With {8-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the board, Comtois bet out and was faced with a raise to 8,500. Comtois responded by pushing all in and his opponent quickly called.

Comtois: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The turn of {j-Hearts} gave Comtois a few more outs to catch up, but the {j-Diamonds} on the river sealed his fate and he headed for the exit.

Chip Update

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Here's an update on some of the stacks in the room as well as a few new and returning players to Day 1c.

Big Pot With Aces

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

There was a big pot growing on table 61 with Daniel Mason and James Rubin head up on a board of {2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. There was already more than 35,000 in the middle and Mason checked.

Rubin pushed all in for his remaining 7,000 and his opponent called. Rubin flipped over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and scooped up the large pot when Mason slid his cards in the muck.

James is Back for More

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jason James is here for his third day in a row, looking to bag a stack for Day 2. So far, he's still hovering around a starting stack.

Edward Bialorucki opened the pot with a raise to 700 and James called. The flop came {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Bialorucki check-called a bet of 1,000 from James.

The turn was the {k-Spades} and Bialorucki checked again. James bet 2,000 and won the pot when his opponent gave up.
