75 Players Heading into Day 2 of the partypoker WPT National Cyprus

Registration is open until the end of Level 12
Registration is open until the end of Level 12

After two starting days with 149 entries in total, almost exactly half of the field remains as 75 players will be returning to the tables for Day 2 of the €1,800+200 World Poker Tour National Cyprus. The late registration at the Noah's Ark Deluxe Hotel & Spa remains open until the end of level 12 and the action resumes at 13:00 local time (12:00 CET) with level 10 at blinds 500-1,000 and a running ante of 100.

Furthermore, all participants can also still take advantage of a single re-entry until the end of level 12, which would provide a fresh stack of 30,000 chips at blinds 800-1,600 / ante 200.

Yesterday's Day 1b had less runners than Day 1a and thus it comes as no surprise that Sergey Minaev remains in the overall lead with his astonishing 193,300 chips. Season 11 EPT Prague finalist Miltiadis Kyriakides accumulated 159,600, which is good for second place overall.

Dimitar Yosifov follows in third place with 157,100 and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (138,900) as well as Ara Melkistian (132,200) are the biggest stacks at the start. The level duration increases to 60 minutes for Day 2 as well as the final, leaving more room to make some moves or grind out a short stack to ensure a portion of the guaranteed €300,000 prize pool.

The current top 10 are as follows:

Luca Keeps Stacking

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Ivan Luca
Ivan Luca

Ivan Luca defended his blind against a raise of Ercan Olgun and found a flop of {J-} {2-} {4-}. The Argentinian check-called a bet of 2,200 and check-raised the {Q-} turn from 5,400 to 14,300. Olgun moved all in for around 60,000 with ace-high and Luca called with queen-jack for two pair, already being guaranteed the knockout.

Jan Bendik
Jan Bendik

Jan Bendik started the day as one of the bigger stacks and has just been sent to the rail. Twice he lost against sets of opponents, the second time with pocket nines against Sinem Melin's set of threes. The Slovakian was then all in for his last 12,000 with pocket eights and Alper Kostem held pocket queens to score the knockout.

Unsal Busts in Huge pot

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Onur Unsal
Onur Unsal

Onur Unsal went past us to purchase a re-entry and one could understand that he busted with "top two versus straight on A-Q-8-9". The 200,000-pot went to Barny Boatman with {J-} {10-} and the Brit is now among the chip leaders.

Chino Rheem appeared in the bustout feed, same applied for [Removed:2] as well but the latter purchased a re-entry.

Mizrachi's Maniac Style Pays Off

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Michael Mizrachi is a master at accumulating chips very fast, playing hyper aggressive and either busting or going very deep. The WPT National Cyprus is yet another example and his latest victim was Marc Goschel. After a preflop raising war, both players had invested 24,000 chips whereas a third player got out of the way.

Mizrachi fired all three streets on a board of {A-} {A-} {6-} {9-} {4-} and Goschel called 18,000 on the flop, 25,000 on the turn as well as all in after the river with pocket queens. "The Grinder" however had it this time with {A-} {J-} for trips aces and raked in the massive pot.

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Timur Margolin
Timur Margolin

Majid Ejlal Noubarian had Timur Margolin at risk for what looked like 30,000 in chips and both players had pocket pairs.

Noubarian: {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}
Margolin: {3-Hearts} {3-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and Margolin wished all opponents best of luck before leaving the tournament area.

The Big Bang Theory

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Michael Mizrachi raised to 4,500 and Majid Ejlal Noubarian three-bet to 16,000, which was called by the American. On the {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} flop, Noubarian led for 20,000 and Mizrachi made it 55,000 to go. The Iranian clicked it up to 120,000 and "The Grinder" called.

Both players checked the {A-Diamonds} turn and Noubarian checked the {2-Hearts} on the river. Mizrachi moved all in with the superior stack, sending Noubarian into the think tank. Ultimately, he would release his cards after realizing that he was covered and the splashed up pot went to the American.

Unsal Takes from Luca

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Onur Unsal
Onur Unsal

Onur Unsal raised from under the gun and found a customer in Ican Luca out of the big blind. The Argentinian check-raised the {7-} {7-} {3-} flop from 3,500 to 14,500 and Unsal called to see a four on the turn. Another bet of Luca was called before the Argentinian made it hefty 65,000 to go after a {2-} on the river.

Unsal called with {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs} for the turned straight and Luca was beaten with {7-} {9-} for flopped trips. Who would have thought that Unsal is still in by now after being down to one ante two hours ago?

Yosifov Blows Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Dimitar Yosifov
Dimitar Yosifov

On the turn of a {8-Clubs} {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} board with 55,000 chips in the pot, Dimitar Yosifov bet 22,000. Kemal Sevevi raised to 77,000 and Yosifov eventually moved all in with the superior stack. Sevevi called off for 154,200 chips and turned over {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} for middle pair, double gutshot and the flush draw.

Yosifov returned {K-Spades} {6-Spades} for king-high and the double gutshot, but he couldn't improve anymore as the {2-Diamonds} river was a brick.

Naydenov's Second Nuts are no Good

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Simeon Naydenov
Simeon Naydenov

Onur Unsal raised from the button and was called by Simeon Naydenov and Michael Mizrachi in the blinds. On the {9-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} flop, Mizrachi bet 8,000 and Unsal raised to 20,500. Naydenov moved all in for 80,000 and "The Grinder" tank-folded whereas Unsal made the call.

Naydenov: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Unsal: {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}

A diamond would be no good for the World Series of Poker bracelet winner from Bulgaria and the worst case scenario materialized with the {K-Diamonds} on the turn. The {J-Clubs} river was already meaningless and the comeback story of Unsal becomes more and more of a thing.
