Day 1b Started

Day 1b is Upon Us!

Let's Play Some Poker!
Let's Play Some Poker!

After an exciting starting day yesterday, which was stacked with big names, it's now time for Day 1b. As usual Day 1b is a lot bigger than the first starting day, and we're also expecting to see some of the players that got knocked out yesterday return.

On Day 1a we saw 60 players enter, out of which 38 players managed to make it through the day including World Poker Tour Player of the Year Anthony Zinno. Aliaksei Boika from Belarus bagged up the overnight chip lead for 99,500 chips, with local favorite Vojtech Ruzicka in third for 93,000 chips.

Today's plan is to play eight levels of 60 minutes, with a one-hour dinner break at the completion of the sixth level. PokerNews.com will be right there with you throughout the day for live updates, chip counts and photos.

The British Youngster Are Here

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Two of the young and upcoming players in today's field are without question Brits Charlie Carrel and Ben Heath. These two talented players have been traveling the international tournament circuit with success in the last two years, but their online results have also been nothing to sneeze at.

Carrel had the biggest result of the two, as he won the €25k High Roller event in Monte Carlo after beating Erik Seidel heads up for €1,114,000. Heath's playing his first ever World Poker Tour event today, as he's coming of a World Series of Poker final table in the $3k six-max.

Grochulski Flops the Nuts

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Grzegorz Grochulski just three-bet Johnny Hansen to 750 from the button and the Danish player made the call from the under-the-gun position. The flop came down {6-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Hansen check-called a bet of 750 and on the turn the {Q-Hearts}.

Hansen checked quickly on the turn and Grochulski bet 1,8000. Hansen gave it some thought before calling, and the river completed the board with the {10-Hearts}. Hansen checked a third time and Grochulski bet 2,600.

Hansen tanked for quite some time before calling, and Grochulski quickly showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for the nut flush.

"I flopped it too," Hansen said, as he got knocked down to 21,000.
