More and more players are signing up. The field is already bigger than yesterdays field, and the line in front of the sign up desk is still pretty long. Players like Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Jan Bendik have taken their seats by now, but Dany Parlafes for example is still standing on the rail, not even attempting to sign up just yet.
"If I five bet pre you call, huh?" asked Simeon Naydenov as we approached table 30. "I don't know" answered Wilfried Haselmayer from Austria two positions down. "Of course you don't know" said a steaming Naydenov, "Four bet eights, flop eight four four, of course!"
The board read and Naydenov had gotten it all in on the turn with up against . Naydenov clearly wasn't happy with what had happened, smashing his kings on the table so hard the dealer probably had to call for a new deck.
The turn all in was for 23,000, but Naydenov apparently had already won a big pot before that as he still had 15,000 left after the hand.
A whole bunch of players we recognize have signed up. Atanas Kavrakov won the WPT National in Cyprus two months ago for €75,000, and Norbert Szecsi finished sixth in this very WPT Vienna in 2012. Also in attendance is Austrian all time money leader Josef Klinger, Sofia Lövgren, and many more. We'll keep out eyes on these players for the rest of the day.
Vladimir Troyanovskiy opened under the gun plus one to 350 and he received four calls; a player in middle position, the button, and both blinds.
The flop came and the blinds checked to Troyanovskiy. The Russian player made a continuation bet of 1,000 and the first player folded. The player on the button raised it up to 2,725, prompting the blinds to fold. Troyanovskiy made the call.
The turn came the and Troyanovskiy check called a bet of 3,300.
The on the river made for four clubs on the board. Troyanovskiy checked and his opponent quickly checked behind.
Troyanovskiy tabled with a face not showing too much hope, but he turned a smile after his opponent mucked. The set was good, big pot for Troyanovskiy.
On a board of we saw Alain Medesan in the small blind, and a player in early position, check to Vladimir Bozinovic on the button. Bozinovic, who played yesterday as well but busted, bet out 2,200. Medesan wasted no time calling, the third player involved folded.
The river came the and Medesan checked. Bozinovic tossed in a single black 5,000 chips and Medesan slammed his open on the table after just seconds of thinking. Medesan folded his big hand, Bozinovic mucked silently.
With 101 players currently registered, the tournament is already way bigger than yesterday. Registration will remain open till the start of Day 2 at 2 p.m. local time tomorrow.
