Akenhead Not Rusty Yet

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

The break from live poker hasn't had any influence on the poker skills of James Akenhead, as just highlighted in a hand that won him a decent pot. The Brit raised to 700 from early position and received three callers. On a flop of {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, the action was checked to Akenhead and he made it 1,750 to go. Only one opponent on the button called and the {8-Hearts} turn was checked through.

Akenhead then bet the {K-Spades} river for 4,350 and his opponent gave it some thought before calling for half of his remaining stack. Akenhead turned over the {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and that was good enough to scoop the pot and leave the player on the button short with 15 big blinds.

Last Level to Register

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

The first of three starting days at the Aspers Casino is in level four and that's the last chance to hop in today still, as the registration closes after exactly two hours of play. There will also be a short break at the end of the level as well and the number of participants has reached almost 200.

Three-Bet from Jager

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

After a limp, a raise to 1,100 and a cold-call, the action got to Alexander Jager in the small blind and he made a three-bet to 3,000. The player in the big blind was somewhat confused as the cold-caller had a black T-5,000 chip and a 100 chip in front. "Is that just a flat call?" he asked the dealer and once that was confirmed, the cards went into the muck.

None of the opponents of Jager was willing to make any further move and the squeeze won the pot. The player on seat one had just busted and the chips went to Stuart Hulston, who is also up to almost three times the starting stack already.

Value for Winsor

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

On the {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {9-Spades} turn, Benjamin Winsor bet 1,800 from the button and was called by an opponent in early position to see the {9-Diamonds} river appear as final community card. Again the action was checked to Winsor and his value-bet of 2,800 was eventually called. Winsor turned over {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} for a full house and his opponent mucked {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}.

Kamel Gets Cheeky

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Joining the action on a flop of {3-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {4-Spades}, Tamer Kamel check-called a bet of 1,000 and the Brit as well as his opponent checked the {8-Diamonds} turn. On the {4-Diamonds} river, Kamel announced a bet and that got the opponent out of the way. Kamel turned over {9-Clubs} {5-Clubs} for a bluff and scooped the pot, though he is still below starting stack.

"Did you just show because I was standing next to the table?" we asked Kamel and he just grinned. "No, that's good for the table image," was his reply.

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

With 183 players registered right now, 10 have been running out of chips. Among the early chip leaders is Henrik Klinge Nielsen with almost three times the starting stack and the Dane is quite easy to recognize with his very stylish melon hat.

Hulston Holds with Top Set

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

After a three-way flop of {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Hearts}, Stuart Hulston got involved in a raising war and was at risk with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. He got looked up by one opponent with {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} for the flush draw. The {10-Clubs} on the turn things got quite scary as now the open ended straight draw increased the odds of the opponent. It was all good after the {5-Clubs} river though and Hulston doubled up.
