Day 2 Completed

Laurence Essa Leads After Day 2 of the partypoker 2015 WPTN London Accumulator

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Laurence Essa Leads last 24 into the Final
Laurence Essa Leads last 24 into the Final

The second day of the 2015 partypoker World Poker Tour National London £200 No-Limit Hold'em Accumulator at Aspers Casino started fast and furious with one-fourth of the 205 remaining participants being sent to the rail within the first two levels. After 12 levels of 40 minutes each, only 24 players remained, and it was Laurence Essa who bagged up the lead with 1,069,000 in chips.

The vast majority of Essa's stack came off two coin flips despite Essa not preferring the pressure of these situations.

Among the early eliminations were Carlo Citrone, WPT Champions Club member Tony Dunst, James Akenhead, Tamer Kamel, and July 2014 WPT National London champion Gabriel Tuna.

On the stone-cold bubble, Jeraint "JJ" Hazan would make a hazardous move to crack the pocket kings of Francisco Manuel Salvador Flores, and the bubble burst in Level 19 when Jacques Arama could not hold up against Christopher Yong.

Once in the money, the eliminations came in quickly, and Surinder Sunar, as well as Xuan Nguyen, were among those to settle for a min-cash worth £600. With Kelly Ann Saxby (34th) and Alexandra O'Brien (31st) bowing out in the second payout step for £690, an all-male affair for the final day of the tournament was created.

The chip lead was decided in a massive coin flip that sent Martin Spearing to the rail in 30th place, and then another five players ended up on the rail in the last level of play. With upcoming blinds of 10,000/20,000 and a running ante of 3,000, more fireworks can be expected right from the start of Day 3 at 1 p.m. UK time.

All remaining 24 players are guaranteed at least £895 for their efforts, whereas the first-place payout of £22,500 and the title of WPT National champion are still up for grabs. Some of the contenders with big stacks include Rahim Tadj-Saadat (921,000), Christopher Yong (784,000), Kevin Allen (709,000), Jesus Gracia (687,000), and 2014 WPT Nottingham champion and Day 1b chip leader Matas Cimbolas (589,000).

Be sure to tune back in with the PokerNews Live Reporting team as we'll be here to deliver all key situations on the way to write another chapter in the WPT history books.

24 Players Bag Up Chips

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

With no further eliminations, everyone got to bag up chips and the redraw for tomorrow took place immediately. Some of the smaller chip denominations were also taken out of play to make less of a mess for the restart. Chip leader is Laurence Essa as only player above a million in chips. In a quick chat, he said the following:

"Two flips. I don't like flips in tournaments but sometimes you gotta get it in."

Wheatley Busts in Penultimate Hand

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Karl Roberts had less than one big blind left early today at blinds 2,000-4,000 ante 500 and came back all the way to survive and bag up chips. He also left Richard Wheatley short-stacked after winning ace-king versus ace-king thanks to a flush.

Wheatley had less than 30,000 chips left in the big blind and called all in after Matas Cimbolas had moved all in. It was the {K-Hearts} {4-Spades} for Wheatley and Cimbolas' {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} with the better end for the Lithuanian on a board of {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}.

Bell is Running Well

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Andrew Bell first doubled up with {10-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} against an opponent's {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs} on a board of {9-Clubs} {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Hearts}. He then moved all in against a raise to 42,000 and scooped the pot as the opponent folded. Last but not least he had Christopher Gordon at risk but with the weaker hand.

Bell's {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} earned a split pot versus {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} on the {K-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} board.

Mitchell Busts to Cimbolas

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Steven Jones, Peteris Berzins and Anthony Mitchell are the next trio to join the rail. As for Mitchell, he faced two limps in front of him and jammed for 81,000 with {A-} {Q-}. Matas Cimbolas called from one seat over with {K-} {10-} and improved to trips ten.

Papushi Doubles Through Zihni

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Petrit Papushi was all in for 98,000 from early position and Ali Zihni tanked in the big blind. It was 82,000 chips more to call and he eventually made up his mind, tossed in the chips and flipped over {3-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. It was a flip against the {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} of his opponent and the river of a {J-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} board would save Papushi.
