Welcome to Day 1a of the Season XVII WPT India Main Event. This is the second ever WPT Main Event held here in India, after Vikash Mantri took home $92,539 after beating a field of 527 this time last year.

Players start with 30,000 in chips. Late registration and re-entry (one entry per Day 1) is available until the start of Level 10 (~9:30pm on Day 1a, ~6:20pm on Day 1b and ~00:40 on Day 1c). Breaks are 10 minutes long.

Cards are in the air for the second ever WPT India Main Event!
Last year, the WPT India Main Event attracted 527 entries, and just ten minutes into Level 1 of the 2018 edition there are already 100 playerrs seated.
With three flights, including a turbo Day 1c tomorrow at 9:30 pm, it looks like the tournament is on track to be a big one!
On a board, the player in the small blind bet 3,800 into a pot approaching 5,000 and opponent Meherzad Munsaf called.
The river was the and Munsaf's opponent bet 5,600. Munsaf took a moment before calling, turning over for two pair.
However, his opponent held for a better two pair and took down the pot.

Kunal Patni finished third in the WPTDeepStacks Berlin Main Event at the start of the year, and he's back in his native India in time for the 2018 WPT stop there. Last year he cashed twice, and will be looking to add on it after a successful year including a string of cashes in the United States over the summer.
Also in the field is Adda52 Celebrity pro Minissha Lamba. Lamba has appeared in several notable Hindi films since making her debut in 2005. She has made several appearances in India’s premier tournaments including India Poker Championship (IPC) & Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT)

Two big names in Indian poker, Kunal Patni and PokerStars Team Pro Muskan Sethi are seated at the same table.
Sethi has had success here in Goa before, finishing fifth earlier this year in an Adda52 High Roller for around $7,000.
Meanwhile in this tournament she has starting stack, while Patni is down somewhat. He check-called 1,400 on a board only for his opponent to show for top pair, top kicker.

Sitting fourth on the Indian all-time money list is Raghav Bansal. He is closing in on $1m in live cashes after a series of High Roller scores in Macau. Earlier this year he also finished 21st out of 7,361 players in the WSOP Millionaire Maker.
Also in the field is Sahil Agarwal. Unrelated to Indian star Aditya Agarwal, Sahil recently cashed in the WPT Vietnam Main Event.
