Poker just took a massive step forward in Thailand, and the timing couldn’t be better.
Just before the WPT Prime Thailand Exhibition kicked off in Bangkok, the Thai government has officially recognized poker as a sport, marking a landmark moment for the game in Southeast Asia.
The move gives the WPT Prime stop some serious momentum as it becomes the first international poker tournament hosted under the country’s new sports classification.
Chenxiang Miao raised to 28,000 from under the gun and Hideo Sawai called. Adrien Tantaro jammed for 82,000 in the small blind and both bigger stacks called.
They checked down the 10♠7♥3♠2♠8♣ board and Tantaro showed the K♥Q♥, which was beaten by Miao's A♦Q♠. However, Sawai had the best of it with the A♥K♦ and won the three-way pot with ace-king high.
"I had the nuts, pocket deuces," Weining Liang mentioned in the table chat.

In a battle of the blinds between two short stacks, Biao Deng was all-in against Wei Xu with the latter at risk.
Wei Xu: K♠10♦
Biao Deng: A♣9♠
The A♥10♥7♦ flop gave both players a pair and the 6♥ turn changed nothing. Deng was the player to improve with the 8♠ river as he made the ten-high straight for good measure.
