WPT Season XII Day 2 sees 103 players returning for the Merit Cyprus Classic for a 2pm local start. One hour later than usual to allow those who partied the night away at the player’s party last night an extra hour to recover.
Bernard Samaha leads the way with 293,700 chips. Not far behind are Albert Daher on 234,000 and Alexy Rybin on 216,500.
Also returning today are England’s Sam Trickett and Kara Scott.
If the events of the last two days are anything to go by we are expecting the action to be fast and furious. Stay tuned to PokerNews throughout the day for all the action and reporting throughout the day.
As reported yesterday PokerNews was surprised that Michael Mizrachi hadn’t bought in again on Day 1b. However he turned up fifteen minutes before the start of Day 2 looking to buy in only to be told it was too late. He wasn’t very happy about it saying he would never have missed the chance had he known it wasn’t possible. Some incorrect information from somewhere and a very disappointed Grinder.
Jacques Torbey opened for 3,600 and was raised by Bartlomiej Kowalowka to 9,600. Oleg Suntsov then moved all in for 19,600. Back to Torbey who asked how much Kowalowka was playing and folded. Kowalowka made the call and showed against Suntsov’s . The board ran out and Suntsov got an early double up.
Frenchman Roger Hairabedian is one of the first exits today. Elsewhere Necip Ferengizbilge just doubled up to 12,000 after his short-stack shove with found Tomas Fara calling with and the board coming . "It's changed my life!" Ferengizbilge sarcastically said.
On a board of Aleksandr Shcherbinin thought for a long time before betting 15,000 from the small blind. The action was back to Ofer Stern who took even longer to think. So long that Rami Shouman called the clock on him. Given a minute to act he waited until the floor announced “Three seconds.” before betting enough to put Shcherbinin all in. Shcherbinin thought some more but folded before the clock was called on him.
[Removed:2] opened for 3,000 and was raised by his neighbour Manig Loeser to 7,200. The blinds folded and when it got back to him Maksoud moved all in and got the call. Maksoud had against the of Loeser. The board ran out and Maksoud was eliminated.
On the river of a board, Aston Astapau put in enough chips in the middle to cover Kara Scott. The latter had around 25,000 left and tanked for about 30 seconds before making the call. Astapau flipped for a rivered straight, Scott tapped the table and made her way to the rail.
