El Sayed Gets Lucky Against Meryumoglu

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Sam El Sayed plays a style of poker that is highly volatile and often seems him climb to the very top of the chip counts or bust out within the first few levels.

We saw him in a hand just now over on Table 4 where Mustafa Meryumoglu checked from the big blind on a {7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} board and El Sayed fired a bet of 4,500. Meryumoglu made the call and it was off to the {J-Diamonds} river.

Meryumoglu checked again and then instantly called as El Sayed bet 4,800.

El Sayed turned over {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the straight and Meryumoglu mucked his hand; but not before showing the player in Seat 8 his cards. This prompted the dealer to reveal the hand of Meryumoglu, {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

Welcome to the Jungle

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

It hasn't taken too long for Daniel Cates to get involved, quickly getting into a four-way pot on his own big blind. The {J-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop was checked around to the button who bet 800, but he and everyone else folded when Cates made it 2,400 to go.

Another Cates Hand; The Jungleman Is Not Happy

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Daniel Cates has been in the thick of it since he arrived here in the Main Event and despite only being in his seat for 15-20 minutes he appeares to be quite frustrated.

In a hand that just took place, he three-bet from the hijack an opening raise and was called by Ran Azor in the big blind and the original raiser. The flop came down {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and all three players checked. The turn was the {3-Diamonds}, Azor bet 2,500, the original raiser folded but Cates stayed in the hand and made the call.

The river card was the {2-Hearts} and now Azor checked to the man known as Jungleman. Cates sat completely stoic before finally moving and betting 6,500. Azor waited for close to 30 seconds before making the call.

As soon as he called Cates looked up to the ceiling as if he knew he was beaten, and beaten he was as Azor turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Cates mucked, turned away and looked towards the heavens once again.

Pantaleo Folds On The RIver

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

EPT Barcelona final table member Guiseppe Pantaleo has just been forced to fold on the river after facing pressure from Joseph Houayek.

On a flop that read {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} and with 3,500 chips already in the pot, Houayek checked from the small blind. Nikolay Tyurin then bet 1,525 from the big blind, only to see Pantaleo raise to 3,850 from middle position. Houayek, who initially checked, cold-called Pantaleo's raise but Tyurin got out of the way.

Both players then checked the arrival of the {9-Diamonds} on the turn but when the {10-Clubs} landed on the river Houayek bet 3,700 and Pantaleo snap-folded.

Julio Yo-yo-ing Around

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Julio Belluscio is having an up and down sort of day. He'd knocked out one player with {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} against {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} all in on the turn of a {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{J-Hearts} board.

But then soon after, Belluscio didn't fold against Marc Perrault's turn bet of 4,575 on an {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} board when the pair were heads up. Belluscio checked dark before the dealer put out the {7-Hearts} river and Perrault responded with a 6,900 bet.

Belluscio couldn't fold and ended up making the call only to be shown Perrault's {A-}{K-}

Ates Gonna Hate

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Orhan Ates had made a check-raise to 2,175 on a flop of {7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} but Andrei Stoenescu made the call to see the {6-Diamonds} turn.

Both players checked and Ates led out for just 2,150 on the {6-Clubs} river. Stoenescu debated, before deciding to just call and Ates confidently turned over {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} but Stoenescu flipped {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for the monster draw that had backdoored trips for the pot.
