Stewart and Dombrowski Tangle

With a flop of {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades}, we picked up the action on the turn. The {4-Spades} fell and both Ty Stewart and Chris Dombrowski checked, leading to the river {A-Hearts}. Stewart led out with a bet of 15,000, and faced an all in from Dombrowski. Disgusted, Stewarts called with {A-Spades} {5-Spades}, but had been bested by Dombrowski, who got a free look at the river that had filled him up. Dombrowski, healthy again with the double up, has 133,000.

Unfortunately for Stewart, the clash cost him most of his stack, leaving only 25,000 in play.

Liebert Doubles Through Derden

Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert
Facing a 4,000 raise, Kathy Liebert moved all in and recieved action from Preston Derden. The preflop showdown had Derden tabling {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} v. Liebert's pocket cowboys. The board built little drama as it ran out {Q-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} {A-Hearts} . Derden's stack was barely dented and remained around 122,000. Kathy moved her stack up to 44,000 as she hangs tough.

Clements Gets Sneaky; Eliminates Bessey

Scott Clements
Scott Clements
Scott Clements opted to get fancy with a pocket pair of kings and it paid off, as he was able to eliminate Shawn Bessey from the tournament by doing so.

Clements limped in from early position with the kings and Bessey called from the small blind; Bill Bostick checked his option in the big.

All three players checked the {K-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {10-Diamonds} board all the way down to the river, at which point Bessey fired a 2,000 bet. Bostick made the call, but when the action landed on Clements, he simply shoved all in. Bessey made the call for less and Bostick folded, sending us to the showdown.

Clements' kings full was far and away the best hand as Bessey tabled {2-?} {3-?} for trip deuces and was outchipped and thus, eliminated by the two-time bracelet winner, who now sits with right around 60,000 in chips.

Cooke, Fried

Chris Dombrowski has just swallowed up short-stack Neal Cooke to move to 145,000 in chips.

Dombrowski opened with a raise from early position, making it 5,500 to play. Cooke then moved all in over the top for a total of 9,600. Action folded back around to Dombrowski, who made the call and tabled two red kings; Cooke was in bad shape with an underpair -- pocket nines.

The board filled out {7-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and Dombrowski's kings held to send a very animated Neal Cooke to the rail.

...and Then There Were 20.

Current chip leader, Preston Derden
Current chip leader, Preston Derden
The action was all preflop, as Scott Roberds pushed all in and hit a wall in the form of Preston Derden. Roberds {A-?} {K-?} was behind Derden's {K-?} {K-?} from the get go. Unfortunately for Roberds, Derden's pair was never in danger. With no bad beat coming, we are down to 20 players remaining. The hand vaulted Derden into the chip lead as we approach the bubble.

Carol Hampton Out in 20th

Facing a bet of 13,000 from Micheal Binger in the small blind and with the board showing {10-Hearts} {5-Spades} {J-Diamonds}, Carol Hampton moved all in and saw the bad news. Binger had flopped a set of Jacks, as he held {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} in the hole. Hampton's {K-Spades} {A-Spades} needed help, but fell short as the board rounded out {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Binger moves into the chip lead after the hand with 203,000.

"Action for Action"

Now that there are 19 players remaining, the tournament is being played "action for action," which was described to us as follows:

The three remaining tournament tables will play every hand simultaneously, meaning all three flops will be dealt at the same time, all three turns will be dealt at the same time, and likewise with the river.

Tournament Director Janis Sexton told us that this new procedure was put in place to detract from stalling.
