...and Then There Were 19.... Still.

Action has slowed a bit as the three remaining tables attempt to burst the bubble, and expectedly so. However, as I write this post, there's a major crowd developing around Scott Clements' table we just heard the accompanying "All in and call" cry from the dealer. Something could be happening. We'll have the scoop in a minute.

Clements Says Bubble This!

Quads baby!
Quads baby!
Scott Clements, from the hijack, pushed his last 20,000 into play. Travis Erdman, on the button, called and both watched and waited as the blinds folded and the tournament director gave the okay to deal.

When the hands were revealed, Clements showed {Q-Spades} {K-Spades} to Erdman's {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. The flop gave Clements the lead when it came {3-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. The turn sweetened the hand, as it revealed the {Q-Hearts}. Not to be outdone, the river brought the overkill of quads as the case {Q-Diamonds} showed up.

Erdman could take comfort in only losing 20,000. While Clements need the ladies to keep him alive with 44,000 after the hand.

McClain Wins One from Erdman

Preflop, Mike McClain raised it up to 6,000 from middle position and Travis Erdman made the call from the big blind.

The flop came {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} and both players checked, sending us to the turn: {A-Diamonds}. Erdman checked once more, passing the first option to McClain, who fired a 10,000 bet; Erdman called.

The {J-Clubs} fell on the river and Erdman open-fired a massive 25,000 bet. McClain responded with a big bet of his own, moving all in for about 70,000. Erdman folded and dropped to about 184,000 in chips after the hand. McClain improved to 125,000 in chips with the win.

Bubble Bully?

Kessler won't be bullied
Kessler won't be bullied
As he had done several times in the last few hands, Chris Dombrowski raised to 6,600. Allen Kessler from the cutoff reraised quickly to 20,000. After a short tank, Dombrowski announced, "All in" and was insta-called by Kessler holding {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Dombrowski tabled {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} and waited for the flop. The flop brought plenty of drama as it rained down {A-Spades} {8-Spades} {9-Spades}! The {2-Spades} on the turn completed the flush and gave the lead back to Kessler. The river was another spade in the form of the {7-Spades}, but Kessler's flush proved best as he amassed stacks of yellow chips and improved his count to 170,000. Dombrowski shipped most of his chips one seat over and was left with 47,000.

Still at 19...

The blinds have just gone up and the players should have left for dinner break by now. However, the tournament staff has decided to make them play down to 18, so that no one has to come back from dinner just to play and receive no money. Thus, we march on.

Troendly Takes One from "Chainsaw"

We picked this hand up on the turn as Rick Troendly made it 23,000 to go, with a nice pot in the middle already. Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler studied the board as it read: {3-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts}, then made to call. A river of {5-Diamonds} prompted another bet from Troendly as he put out 15,000. It was enough for Kessler to fold, as Troendly showed {Q-?} {J-?}.

Kessler Active on the Bubble

Allen Kessler bumped the action to 8,500 from the cutoff and was called by Tay Nguyen on the button. After a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {Q-Hearts}, both players checked around. The turn came the {8-Spades} and after a check, Nguyen took the opportunity to bet 10,000, which Kessler insta-called. The river produced the {J-Clubs} and was checked down. Kessler quickly flipped up his {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and saw Nguyen muck.

Counts after the hand:
Kessler - 168,000
Nguyen - 111,000
