Chips Changing Hands

Four players saw a flop of {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} in early action at our "final" table. Dennis Meierotto checked, as did Evan Panesis. Jeff Bryan elected to take the lead, betting out 17,000. Jesse Hale was next, and he made the call. Back on Meierotto now, the table watched him make a strong reraise to 57,000. That was enough to scare off Panesis and Bryan, but Hale elected to come along with a call after some deliberation.

Fourth street was the {9-Diamonds}. Meierotto wasted no time moving all in for his last 52,000. With such a big pot up for grabs, Hale called, knowing he was behind.

Showdown:
Meierotto: {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}
Hale: {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}

Hale was club hunting, but he would find none. The river was a blank {2-Spades}, and Meierotto more than doubled up. He is now hot on the heels of the chip leader, having vaulted up to 240,000.
