Tahoe Taken Out

Howard "Tahoe" Andrew just strolled past the media table here in the tournament room looking rather glum. He had been working with a short stack all day, and we assumed the news wasn't good.

"All right guys, I'm out," he lamented quietly, not bothering to stop and chat. We've lost the most senior member of Day 2 and the clear crowd favorite. See you in Las Vegas, Howard.

Later, Tyler

Tyler Smith
Tyler Smith
Riding the short stack, Tyler Smith moved all in preflop holding {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}. When Ted McCollom squeezed out {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, he made the call, having Smith covered.

Unfortunately for the young pro, the board ran out dry for him, coming {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Failing to come from behind, Tyler Smith has been sent to the rail in 31st place.

Halfway Home

In just over two levels, we have lost half of the remaining field. Thirty-one players have been eliminated, and thirty-one are left. We'll play on until we hit our final table of nine. The money bubble bursts at eighteen.

Down Goes Ceci

No More Nick Ceci
No More Nick Ceci
From middle position, and working with a short stack, defending champion Nick Ceci moved all in holding {A-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. Action came around to the small blind where Daniel Walsh looked down at {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} and made the call, putting Ceci's tournament livelihood in jeopardy.

The board was no help to Ceci as it came down {4-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {3-Hearts}. With that, we are guaranteed to have a new champion this year as Nick Ceci has been eliminated.

Brrreak

The clock has been paused, and the players are on their first 15-minute break of the day, and they're more than happy to step out of this very chilly theater for a bit.

Matt Brady... Absolutely Blessed

From the button, Matt Brady raised to 3,600. David Dao was in the big blind and after the small blind folded, he snap-shoved his entire stack for 135,000. Brady jumped out of his seat and snapped right back with a call.

Showdown
Brady: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}
Dao: {2-Spades} {2-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and earned Brady the massive pot. Dao was eliminated and Brady skyrocketed to 250,000.

Marching Out of Here

Daniel Walsh raised to 4,000 from early position, and the action passed all the way around to the last player, big blind Robert March who moved all in for his last 30,000. Walsh went deep into the tank for two or three minutes mumbling, "Seems like a squeeze play..." Finally, he made the call, putting March's tournament life in the balance.

Showdown
Walsh: {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}
March: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

Two players at the table claimed to have folded the remaining queens, making Walsh a slight favorite. Indeed, the board ran out {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {7-Spades}, giving Walsh the winning kings up and sending March toward the exit.
