Boat for Bell

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

We arrived at the table and found Chris Bell involved in a pot with the board reading {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Bell had bet 1,400 and his opponent called, landing the {A-Clubs} on the river. Bell checked time and his opponent fired 3,675. Bell tossed out a gray-5k chip immediately and his opponent said, "No Club." No club for Bell either, tabling an even better hand with {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a full house.

Bell upped his stack to about 33,000.

Small Pot for Amnon

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

It's been a tumultuous day for Amnon Filippi. We've seen him with as much as 30,000 and as little as 9,000. At the moment, he sits with about 14,000 after winning a small pot.

He raised to 1,150 from middle position and was called by the player in the big blind. The {10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop was checked by both, as was the {Q-Hearts} turn. The {K-Diamonds} hit the river and it checked to Filippi and he fired a measly 1,000. His opponent called and Filippi tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, good enough to win the pot.

Childs' Gets Sent to His Room

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante
Lee Childs
Lee Childs

Lee Childs was recently relocated to a new table across the room, and it was none too kind to him. Just an orbit or so into his new digs, Childs played what would be his final hand of the day. The table folded around to his button, and Lee opened the pot with a raise. The small blind three-bet him, and Childs shrugged and moved all in for about 14,000 on a four-bet. His opponent instantly called, and the news was not good for Childs and his pocket deuces. The small blind rolled over his two aces in the hole, and the at-risk player could find no help from the dealer on a board full of blanks.

Childs' day is done.

Scheduling Notes

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

The field will be sent to dinner at the conclusion of Level 9, approximately 5:45 P.M. local time. Dinner will last 75 minutes until 7:00 when the players will be called back to action for another seven levels of poker. That figures to get us through Day 1 at about 12:10 A.M. with the survivors' chips tucked safely in their overnight bags. We should have well under 100 players left by that point in time, maybe even fewer than 75.

Riccobono Bounced

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Al Riccobono
Al Riccobono

Friend of PokerNews and all-around good guy Al Riccobono has been eliminated after winning, from what we could see, approximately one pot all day -- the first of his day, in fact. A steady tumble down the chip counts finds him now at zero and out of contention.

Engel Finds a Jack

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Ari Engel found himself in a bad spot with most of his stack of 40,900 at risk with {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. He tried pushing out his opponent, but failed as his opponent called all in with {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

However, Engel spiked the winner as the board ran out {J-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, upping his stack to about 77,000.

Lippert Let Go

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

It was a three-bet pot that saw Adam Lippert and two opponents head off to a flop of {K-} {6-} {7-}. Lippert checked from the small blind, and the a gentleman calling who goes by "Mr. Hug" led out with an all-in shove that represented an overbet of the pot. That folded the third player out of the way, but Lippert eventually made the call with {K-} {Q-} for his own tournament life. He was drawing nearly dead; Mr. Hug showed up pocket sixes for the flopped set and Lippert was in need of two running cards.

The turn and river were blanks, though, a {5-} and an {8-}, and the freshly eliminated Lippert gave a long discourse about the play he'd just run into before leaving the room.
