A Misstep For Brady

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Matt Brady
Matt Brady

We missed the betting action, and that's a shame because the pot grew big in a hurry. It was an {8-} {6-} {5-} that sparked a battle between Matt Brady and Ramana Epparla. Brady ended up pushing with {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts} (no flush draw), and Epparia quickly called all in with his superior {8-} {8-} and top set.

The turn {10-} opened up a few more outs for Brady as he was now double-gutted to the straight. The river was paint, but the {K-} offered him no help. After that big chip exchange, Epparia is up to 230,000, and Brady has fallen all the way back to 77,000.

Two Consecutive Bumps in Bonacci's Road

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

In early position, Franco Bonacci opened to 10,500, and Ed Cotter three-bet to 25,500 right next door. Bonacci was the only one to call the reraise, and the two men took a {10-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} flop. Bonacci checked, and Cotter took his cue to make a small continuation bet of 9,500. It worked; Bonacci folded.

The next hand, Bonacci once again opened to 10,500, this time under the gun. He found calls from Cotter, Robert Hwang, and Michael Rocco, all with position on him. Four ways, the flop brought {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {7-Clubs}, and Bonacci continued out with 18,500. The two monkeys in the middle folded, but Rocco called to see another card.

It was the {10-Diamonds}, and Bonacci fired another 23,000 at the pot. Rocco raised to 52,000 this time, and Bonacci tanked and folded. He's got 101,000 chips left.

Krewina KO'd

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Kenny Nguyen
Kenny Nguyen

First in from the hijack seat, Kenny Nguyen came in with a raise, and Julius Krewina three-bet shoved his short ~20,000-chip stack from the big blind. Nguyen called the small remainder with the lowly {Q-Clubs} {4-Clubs}, and he was drawing live for the knockout against his opponent's {A-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}.

And the knockout he would get. The board ran out {2-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}, and the elimination of Krewina moves Nguyen up to about 280,000. He's got chattin' chips now, although Nguyen needs no extra motivation to control the conversation at the table.

Brady Down and Out

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Matt Brady had a fine start to the day, challenging for the chip lead within the first level. That start turned sour in a hurry, though, and Brady has been run out of the room before the break.

On his final hand, he was down around 45,000 when he shoved in with {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} in middle position. Right next door, Andrew Blum reraised all in, and Brady had to know that he was in trouble. He was; Blum turned up {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}, and the knockout was in his grasp.

The board came out {3-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}, and Brady was unable to catch up to stay alive.

Perelman Loses Ground

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Rob Perelman had a short-stacked player all in and crushed with pocket kings against pocket deuces. The shorty had about 60,000 chips to start the hand, and he managed to double that by spiking a lucky deuce on the turn. It's now Perelman with the stack of 60,000 as the two men essentially traded places.

"He stood up," Perelman told us. "I knew he was going to hit it."

Dipthrong Making Noise

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Mark "dipthrong" Herm is well-known in the online realms, but he's doing his part to make the live transition here in Chester.

Herm had {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} in a recent hand when Denis Gnidash shoved on him for about 19,000. Herm called, and he was flipping for the knockout against {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}.

Board: {Q-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {5-Spades}

That's clean for "dipthrong", and that knockout moves him up to 178,000.

Break Dance

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We've got two levels in the books, and 21 of our Day 2 starting players have failed to make it this far. That leaves 34 of them to wander out of the room for this ten-minute break. During that time, we'll be coloring up and racing off those pesky black T100 chips.
